In his daily press briefing Thursday afternoon, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said the White House would have never invited Leslie Macko to pose with President Obama had they known about her criminal past.

“Had that type of information been made available,” said Gibbs. “She would not have participated in the event here.”

Macko, a Charlottesville resident, stood next to President Obama as his example of the need to extend jobless benefits.

“We need to extend unemployment compensation benefits for women like Leslie Macko, who lost her job at a fitness center last year, and has been looking for work ever since. Because she’s eligible for only a few more weeks of unemployment, she’s doing what she never thought she’d have to do. Not at this point, anyway. She’s turning to her father for financial support,” Obama said in his speech at the White House on July 19th.

Macko was once employed at ACAC Fitness and Wellness Center in the Albemarle Square Shopping Center. However, in April 2009, a month after being found guilty of prescription drug fraud, she lost her job as an aesthetician in the spa at ACAC.

ACAC CEO Greg Wells told the Newsplex that Macko was not terminated nor discharged because of any illegal activity, but Wells would not comment on the condition of her termination.

CBS19 also learned Thursday that Macko has had more than one run-in with the law. In June of 2007, Macko was charged with grand larceny. The charge was reduced in court to petit larceny, and she was sentenced to two years probation.

Press Secretary Gibbs was also asked if the White House performed a background check on Macko before her appearance with the President.

“I don’t know the specifics,” Gibbs said. ‘But it’s safe to say, had we known [about the charges against her] she wouldn’t have been here.”

In a written statement to Fox News, a Secret Service spokesman says, “We do not comment or confirm the existence of anyone’s criminal history or lack thereof. Anyone who is granted access to the White House or any venue that we protect does so only after an assessment of dangerousness is made.”

The Legal Aid Justice Center, which represented Leslie Macko in her claim for unemployment benefits, released this statement to the Newsplex Thursday evening:

“Between March 2005 and April 2009, Ms. Macko was employed as an aesthetician by ACAC. When she was terminated in April 2009, Ms. Macko applied for unemployment benefits. On June 15, 2009, Ms. Macko was determined to be qualified for unemployment benefits. ACAC appealed that determination. After a hearing on the merits of Ms. Macko’s case, the original determination was affirmed on September 14, 2009.

Ms. Macko was convicted of two unrelated misdemeanors. Throughout the unemployment proceedings, ACAC never alleged that Ms. Macko’s termination was related to those cases.”

CBS19 contacted Leslie Macko about the conviction, and she declined to comment until she speaks with her attorney.

The Obama administration, anticipating that Congress might not pass comprehensive immigration reform this year, is considering ways it could act without congressional approval to achieve many of the objectives of the initiative, including giving permanent resident status, or green cards, to large numbers of people in the country illegally.

The ideas were outlined in an unusually frank draft memo prepared for Alejandro N. Mayorkas, director of the federal agency that handles immigration benefits, U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS). The memo lists ways the government could grant permanent resident status to tens of thousands of people and delay the deportation of others, potentially indefinitely.

“In the absence of Comprehensive Immigration Reform, CIS can extend benefits and/or protections to many individuals and groups by issuing new guidance and regulations,” said the memo, which was prepared by four senior officials from different branches of USCIS.

The 11-page document was made public Thursday by Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, who with six other senators wrote to Obama more than a month ago, asking for his assurance that rumors that some sort of reprieve was in the works for millions of illegal immigrants weren’t true.

“The administration has failed to reassure us that the information we were hearing was inaccurate,” Grassley said in a statement to ProPublica Thursday night. “This memo gives credence to our concerns that the administration will go to great lengths to circumvent Congress and unilaterally execute a back door amnesty plan.”

From the day Israel was established, the Muslim world has been hostile towards the State of Israel. This has been increasing over the years, despite the efforts of so many to settle the conflict. Although Israel signed Peace Agreements with Egypt and Jordan, nevertheless, many leaders in the Arab world, including Egyptian and Jordanian officials, make anti-Zionist and even anti-Semitic statements, and oppose normalization with Israel. When asked why, they answer that this peace is between governments, and not between the people of their countries.

Trying to find solutions to the Arab-Israeli conflict, politicians and statesmen have spent endless hours with experts on Islam to understand the roots of the conflict. They have usually heard two answers: “The root of the problem is territorial,” and “The root of the problem is religious; it stems from the classic Islamic view of Jews as evil.”

Muslims often accuse Jews of harassing and plotting against Muhammad, Islam’s founder and prophet, a charge abundantly clear since the start of classic Islamic writings, which are filled with anti-Jewish imagery.

In our “post-modern” age, most Western scholars, who are secular, find it difficult to accept the idea that medieval texts can dictate the lives of, or even inspire, people today. They criticize those who see the conflict as religious, arguing that scholars who see the conflict as religious, place too much emphasis on these ancient texts, as both the times and circumstances have changed. For them, these texts are outdated. In short, secular scholars find it difficult to believe that people even still regard religious ideas as relevant.

In talking with the common people in the Arab and Muslim world, however, it becomes clear that for them, these classical texts are as relevant today as when they were written. For the overwhelmingly majority of Muslims, these texts indicate that the conflict is indeed religious, not territorial.

As Muslims view the world, Muhammad was the ideal Muslim. How he acted is how all Muslims should act. So how Muhammad acted towards the Jews in Medina and Khaybar is how Muslims should act towards Jews.

How, then, did Muhammad act?

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al:

We have stuck together since the late 1950’s for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course.

Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right for us all, so let’s just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.

Here is a model separation agreement:

Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a similar portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.

We don’t like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU. Since you hate guns and war, we’ll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. We’ll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and you can go with wind, solar and biodiesel. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O’Donnell. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them.

We’ll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal*Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food stamps, homeless, homeboys, hippies, druggies and illegal aliens. We’ll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms, greedy CEO’s and rednecks. We’ll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood .

You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we’ll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we’ll help provide them security.

We’ll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism, political correctness and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N. but we will no longer be paying the bill.

We’ll keep the SUV’s, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.

You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors. We’ll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right. We’ll keep “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “The National Anthem.” I’m sure you’ll be happy to substitute “Imagine”, “I’d Like to Teach the World to Sing”, “Kum Ba Ya” or “We Are the World”.

We’ll practice trickle-down economics and you can continue to give trickle up poverty your best shot.

Since it often so offends you, we’ll keep our history, our name and our flag.

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like-minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I’ll bet you answer which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.

On a quick read, the federal court’s issuance of a temporary injunction against enforcement of the major provisions of the Arizona immigration law appears specious.

In essence, Judge Susan Bolton bought the Justice Department’s preemption argument – i.e., the claim that the federal government has broad and exclusive authority to regulate immigration, and therefore that any state measure that is inconsistent with federal law is invalid. The Arizona law is completely consistent with federal law. The judge, however, twisted to concept of federal law into federal enforcement practices (or, as it happens, lack thereof). In effect, the court is saying that if the feds refuse to enforce the law the states can’t do it either because doing so would transgress the federal policy of non-enforcement … which is nuts.

The judge also employs a cute bit of sleight-of-hand. She repeatedly invokes a 1941 case, Hines v. Davidowitz, in which the Supreme Court struck down a state alien-registration statute. In Hines, the high court reasoned that the federal government had traditionally followed a policy of not treating aliens as “a thing apart,” and that Congress had therefore “manifested a purpose … to protect the liberties of law-abiding aliens through one uniform national system” that would not unduly subject them to “inquisitorial practices and police surveillance.” But the Arizona law is not directed at law-abiding aliens in order to identify them as foreigners and subject them, on that basis, to police attention. It is directed at arrested aliens who are in custody because they have violated the law. And it is not requiring them to register with the state; it is requiring proof that they have properly registered with the federal government – something a sensible federal government would want to encourage.

Judge Bolton proceeds from this misapplication of Hines to the absurd conclusion that Arizona can’t ask the federal government for verification of the immigration status of arrestees – even though federal law prohibits the said arrestees from being in the country unless they have legal status – because that would tremendously burden the feds, which in turn would make the arrestees wait while their status is being checked, which would result in the alien arrestees being treated like “a thing apart.”

The ruling ignores that, in the much later case of Plyler v. Doe (1982), the Supreme Court has emphasized that

Although the State has no direct interest in controlling entry into this country, that interest being one reserved by the Constitution to the Federal Government, unchecked unlawful migration might impair the State’s economy generally, or the State’s ability to provide some important service. Despite the exclusive federal control of this Nation’s borders, we cannot conclude that the States are without power to deter the influx of persons entering the United States against federal law, and whose numbers might have a discernible impact on traditional state concerns.

(Emphasis added.) Furthermore, as Matt Mayer of the Heritage Foundation notes, the Fifth Circuit federal appeals court similarly held in Lynch v. Cannatella (1987) that “No statute precludes other federal, state, or local law enforcement agencies from taking other action to enforce this nation’s immigration laws.”

However this ruling came out, it was only going to be the first round. Appeal is certain. But the gleeful Left may want to put away the party hats. This decision is going to anger most of the country. The upshot of it is to tell Americans that if they want the immigration laws enforced, they are going to need a president willing to do it, a Congress willing to make clear that the federal government has no interest in preempting state enforcement, and the selection of judges who will not invent novel legal theories to frustrate enforcement. They are not going to get that from the Obama/Reid/Pelosi Democrats.

In the wake of enactment of major sanctions against Iran, some in Congress are looking for new ways to tighten the noose further. While Iranian government officials have mused publicly that new sanctions – not just from Washington but also from Europe and the United Nations – will slow their pursuit of nuclear weapons, much more pressure can be applied.

Preparing for increased sanctions over the past several years, the Iranian mullahs have developed myriad business relationships with Western and Asian companies as an economic buffer. Taking aim at that buffer, two new bills are being designed to use the disinfectant of sunlight to help apply public pressure and, in many cases, give overworked government officials information they can use to shut down activities that run afoul of the law.

The Iran Transparency and Accountability Act (ITA), which was introduced in the House last week, would force publicly traded companies to list in their regular filings all business dealings – including the revenues and profits – that their subsidiaries and affiliates have in Iran that could be covered by various sanctions. Already on board as co-sponsors are several top Republicans and Democrats from the Foreign Affairs Committee, but the author is someone in office just three months, Rep. Ted Deutch, Florida Democrat.

Given the complexity of far-flung multinational conglomerates, sometimes the only people who can document various investments are the corporate attorneys who submit Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings. Even then, the paper trail can be murky. But that is why such legislation would greatly advance the ability of government investigators to piece together who owns what and where.

Not all the business dealings from subsidiaries and affiliates covered by the ITA would necessarily be impermissible under the new sanctions legislation, but all listed activities certainly would draw scrutiny from a very important audience: investors.

The SEC would be required to establish a website with a searchable database of listed activities, which is a powerful tool for activists and investors alike. “Simply being on that list will encourage companies to behave responsibly and enhance national security,” Mr. Deutch explains.

Despite barely having broken in his office furniture, Mr. Deutch has wasted no time inside the Beltway continuing the work he started in the Florida Senate. Working together, he and Adam Hasner, the Republican House majority leader and one of the most prominent conservatives in the Sunshine State, successfully passed bipartisan legislation to divest state pension funds from companies that do business with Iran and Sudan. More than $1 billion has been divested, including more than $200 million from Royal Dutch Shell alone.

The other key bill aiming to apply pressure on the Iranian mullahs would force oil companies seeking drilling permits in U.S. federal waters to certify that they are not investing inside Iran and disclose any joint ventures they have with Iranian-controlled businesses.

Joint ventures, whether in Europe or Asia or elsewhere, have been central to the Iranian mullahs’ efforts to blunt the impact of sanctions they’ve known for some time eventually would be enacted. Among the ways in which the Iranian regime gets access to western technical expertise are through joint ventures its firms have with BP, including a massive natural gas project in Britain’s North Sea.

The recently passed Iran sanctions legislation didn’t fully deal with joint ventures (beyond banning the transfer of technology and expertise and requiring reports which can be used to “name and shame”), in large part because not enough is known about the scope and extent of the various projects already in place.

Mark Dubowitz, executive director of the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies (where this journalist is an adjunct fellow) has identified joint ventures and other partnerships Iranian government-controlled entities have with foreign companies in energy projects off the coast of Scotland, in Croatia, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and India.

Even that, he notes, “probably barely scratches the surface of Iran’s foreign partnerships and investments.”

Rep. Ron Klein, Florida Democrat, who plans to introduce the joint-venture legislation this week, thinks his bill will help steer companies through a simple cost-benefit analysis. “Our provision says that companies must make a choice,” Mr. Klein explains: “Either do business with the U.S. government or do business with Iran, not both.”

With the momentum building against Iran, companies truly might be having to make that choice sooner rather than later.

With near constant gnashing of teeth over what our current government leaders are trying to do to us, I needed the “kick” provided by this grateful immigrant to help me with perspective today. Many of you may benefit from a similar kick as you read the article. Let’s try to remember that there are likely millions more like this man; hopefully, we will hear from more of them and maybe, just maybe, many of our young people, especially the graduates of our liberal universities, will also see/appreciate the stories/gratitude. Let’s keep faith that we can somehow regain our greatness and continue to enjoy our limited time on this earth.

Prologue:

35 years ago, if you were to tell me that I am going to stand up here speaking to a couple thousand patriots, in English, I’d laugh at you. Man, every morning I wake up thanking God for putting me and my family in the greatest country on earth.

I just want you all to know that the American dream does exist and I am living the American dream. I was asked to speak to you about my experience as a first generation Vietnamese American, but I rather speak to you as an American.

If you hadn’t noticed, I am not white and I feel pretty comfortable with my people.

I am a proud US citizen and here is my proof… It took me 8 years to get it, waiting in endless lines, but I got it and I am very proud of it. Guess what, I did legally and it ain’t from the state of Hawaii.

I still remember the images of the Tet offensive in 1968, I was six years old. Now you might want to question how a 6 year old boy could remember anything. Trust me, those images can never be erased. I can’t even imagine what it was like for young American soldiers, 10,000 miles away from home, fighting on my behalf.

The Speech:

35 years ago, I left south Vietnam for political asylum. The war had ended. At the age of 13, I left with the understanding that I may or may not ever get to see my siblings or parents again. I was one of the first lucky 100,000 Vietnamese allowed to come to the US. Somehow, my family and I were reunited 5 months later, amazingly, in California. It was a miracle from God.

If you haven’t heard lately that this is the greatest country on earth. I am telling you that right now. It is the freedom and the opportunities presented to me that put me here with all of you tonight. I also remember the barriers that I had to overcome every step of the way. My high school counselor told me that I cannot make it to college due to my poor communication skills. I proved him wrong. I finished college.

You see…

All you have to do is to give this little boy an opportunity and encourage him to take and run with it. Well, I took the opportunity and here I am. This person standing tonight in front of you could not exist under a socialist/communist environment. By the way, if you think socialism is the way to go, I am sure many people here will chip in to get you a one way ticket out of here. And if you didn’t know, the only difference between socialism and communism is an AK-47 aiming at your head. That was my experience.

In 1982, I stood with a thousand new immigrants, reciting the pledge of allegiance and listening to the National Anthem for the first time as an American. To this day, I can’t remember anything sweeter and more patriotic than that moment in my life. Fast forwarding, somehow I finished high school, finished college, and like any other goofball 21 year old kid, I was having a great time with my life, I had a nice job and a nice apartment in Southern California. In someway and somehow, I had forgotten how I got here and why I am here.

One day I was at a gas station, I saw a veteran pumping gas on the other side of the island. I don’t know what made me do it, but I walked over and asked if he had served in Vietnam. He smiled and said Yes. I shook and held his hand. The grown man began to well up. I walked away as fast as I could and at that very moment, I was emotionally rocked. This was a profound moment in life. I knew something had to change in my life. It was time for me to learn how to be a good citizen. It was time for me to give back.

You see… America is not a place on the map, it isn’t a physical location. It is an ideal, a concept. And if you are an American, you must understand the concept, you must buy into this concept and most importantly, you have to fight and defend this concept. This is about Freedom… and not free stuff. And that is why I am standing up here. Brothers and sisters, to be a real American, the very least you must do is to learn English and understand it well. In my humble opinion, you cannot be a faithful patriotic citizen if you can’t speak the language of the country you live in. Take this document of 46 pages…

Last I looked on the internet, there wasn’t a Vietnamese translation of the US constitution. It took me a long time to get to the point of being able to converse and until this day, I still struggle to come up with the right words. It’s not easy, but if it’s too easy, it’s not worth doing.

Before I knew this 46 page document, I learned of the 500,000 Americans who fought for this little boy. I learned of the 58,000 names scribed on the black wall at the Vietnam Memorial. You are my heroes. You are my founders.

At this time, I would like to ask all the Vietnam veterans to please stand. I thank you for my life. I thank you for your sacrifices, and I thank you for giving me the freedom and liberty I have today. I now ask all veterans, firefighters, and police officers, to please stand. On behalf of all first generation immigrants, I thank you for your services and may God bless you all.

The treasure trove of 91,000 classified AfPak documents posted by WikiLeaks suggests that our government’s been deceiving us about Pakistan’s murderous behavior.

But the situation’s even worse than that: Our government’s been lying to itself.

The documents in question aren’t superclassified. They’re largely low-level field reports at the “confidential” level, bottom-rung stuff, with some secret documents mixed in. Their value lies in their unfiltered quality. This is what the guys on the ground with the guns have been seeing, hearing and sensing.

It ain’t good. Reports covering the five years from 2004 to 2009 cite routine Pakistani support for the Afghan Taliban—as the terrorists kill our troops. Pakistan’s infamous Inter Services Intelligence, or ISI, also has been working with al Qaeda, according to the reports.

That’s no surprise to Post readers, but our government is “shocked, shocked!” by the revelations. And the excuses for Pakistan’s lethal misconduct have already started flowing.

We’re told that these reports are unverified, that some can be traced back to anti-Pakistani Afghan intelligence operatives, and that American eyewitness accounts are one-offs.

Folks, I’ve done plenty of intelligence analysis, and here’s how it works: A single report of a supposed ally’s wrongdoing gets your attention, but it’s regarded as an outlier until another source confirms it. After that, you actively search for further corroboration – before you get blindsided big time.

Wikileaks row is the last thing Nato needs

In what has been called Nato’s crucial year in Afghanistan, the sudden, unauthorised publication of thousands of revealing military and intelligence documents is just about the last thing the alliance needs.

To those of us in the media who have been following the twists and turns of the Afghan conflict, there are few great surprises contained in the 91,000 documents.

Even some of the material classified as “Secret” (the second highest classification after “Top Secret”) is not, in reality, particularly sensitive, and of course all of it is at least seven months old.

Some of the documents, while authentic as official intelligence reports, can be dismissed as clearly wrong or unfounded.

But that is not the point. Taken together, the Wikileaks documents give the general public a remarkable insight into a war that – at least up until December 2009 – now appears to have been going worse than we were told. Read More

White House: WikiLeaks reports about Afghanistan harm national security

The White House blasted the leak.

“The United States strongly condemns the disclosure of classified information by individuals and organizations which could put the lives of Americans and our partners at risk, and threaten our national security,” National Security Adviser Gen. James Jones said in a statement. “Wikileaks made no effort to contact us about these documents – the United States government learned from news organizations that these documents would be posted.” Read the rest of the story

Pentagon review of WikiLeaks documents may take weeks

The Pentagon said on Monday that its review of the leak of secret military documents on the war in Afghanistan would take “days if not weeks” and that it was too soon to assess their damage.

“We will be looking at them to try to determine the potential damage to lives of our service members and our coalition partners, whether they reveal sources and methods and any potential damage to national security,” Pentagon spokesman Colonel Dave Lapan said.

“It will take a matter of days if not weeks, again depending on how these documents are actually made available so that they can be reviewed.” Read the rest

A charade is defined in several ways but in this case the definition is an empty act or pretense. I have some questions for our civilian and military leadership today regarding a war that is appearing more and more like an empty act that seems to be losing its character and “raison d’etre”. First the pretense that this war must continue under the current strategy and that we are achieving results when the facts appear each day to refute that. We see more casualties each day and the leadership standbys a self-destructive and self-defeating strategy of “counter-insurgency” (COIN) doctrine and nation-building. Please define for me since January 2002 what the victories are for America in Afghanistan?

The COIN principle is not based on winning; it is based on political whims and is not a true tenet of warfare. Warfare is, and always should be, about WINNING or do not go to War. Great Generals and Admirals of battles past had enough acumen and understanding of the tides of battle to change the strategies and tactics to turn the tide on the enemy. Not today!

Winning this specific war against forces impelled by Islamic ideology calls for unconventional measures and not the conventional actions followed by lengthy occupations such as we have seen in Iraq and Afghanistan. Such an unconventional war doctrine heavily leverages the core capability to break enemy states, target and destroy the enemy’s capability to bring harm to America”. Why do the United States and its military/political leaders and strategists still languish in failed strategies from World War II to the present?

Fact: Jihadists with small arms and IEDS in faraway places cannot harm the United States so there is no reason to order massive armies that require large and extensive bases and massive logistical support to fight them on their home turf. But that is the essence of failed “counterinsurgency” (COIN) strategies that have bewitched US military political leaders. We all want to support our senior military leaders but at some point they have to face the realities of this enemy and protect and secure our American troops before we continue sparing the lives of the Taliban and civilians with bizarre, restrictive rules of engagement (ROE).

We have been waiting for over a month now for General Petrous to do this change but as of this writing no change and more US/NATO casualties. Bombings killed five U.S. troops in southern Afghanistan on Saturday July 24th, NATO’s International Security Assistance Force reported. The military did not say precisely where the incidents occurred, but the statement said the troops died in “improvised explosive device attacks.” Four service members died in one attack and one was killed in the other. June was the deadliest month for international troops since the war began. 60 Americans were among 102 international troops slain, according to a count of military figures. This month, more than 70 international troops have died. That total includes more than 50 U.S. service members.

Mid-Sha’ban is the 15th day of the Muslim month of Sha’ban. Laylatul Bara’ah is the night preceding the 15th day of Shaban.

The month of Sha’ban is the eighth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The fifteenth night of this month is known as Laylatul Bara’ah or Laylatun Nisfe min Sha’ban in the Arab world. In India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Iran, Afghanistan, etc., it is known as Shab-e-barat.

A Lebanese and Shi’ite website have quoted an unconfirmed report that Hizbullah has deployed 5,000 terrorist fighters near Israel’s northern border. Although the original report in the American-based World Tribune was based on anonymous sources, its publication in the Arab world may further escalate the tension that has resulted in Israel, Syria and Hizbullah exchanging charges of saber rattling.

…it will not be a surprise attack. In fact, regardless of when Israel attacks Iran the element of surprise does not exist. This confrontation has been discussed for several years and everybody knows about it so there will be no surprises. Israel is ready for it. Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas are ready for it. North Korea – South Korea

The Drill starts on Sunday, the 25th.

North Korea has promised a “physical response” to joint US-South Korean military exercises this weekend.

The comments came as Asian foreign ministers met in Vietnam for a regional security forum.

The forum has been dominated by the crisis resulting from North Korea’s alleged sinking of a South Korean warship in March.

The US has accused Pyongyang of “provocative” behaviour and on Wednesday announced new sanctions.

SEOUL, South Korea—The planned U.S.-South Korea joint military exercises in the Yellow Sea have elicited harsh criticism from Beijing, which said that China can replace the United States in the operation and “take the presence of a U.S. aircraft carrier as a ‘drill target.’”

The U.S.-South Korea exercises were announced in June as a countermeasure to North Korea’s alleged sinking of the South Korean warship Cheonan that killed 46 sailors in late March. China has repeatedly expressed opposition to this joint activity.

Operation Invincible Spirit will involve 8,000 US and South Korean troops, 200 aircraft and 20 ships, including the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier the USS George Washington.

US Military Surge in Costa Rica May Fan Regional Tensions

In a controversial decision that is likely to fan the flames of regional tensions in Latin America, Costa Rica recently granted the US permission to move 7,000 troops and 46 warships (along with their accompanying planes and helicopters) into Costa Rican waters. Officially, the act is considered to be part of the “Drug War,” which appears to be increasingly more war-like in nature due to such actions and mounting violence in Mexico and Colombia. Costa Rica’s neighbors, however, see the massive military presence as a potential base for regional strikes.

WASHINGTON (7-19-10) – Starting Aug. 1, up to 1,200 National Guard troops will deploy to the Southwest border with Mexico, the chief of the National Guard Bureau said in a joint announcement with Obama administration officials at the Pentagon here today.

“We’re very pleased to be in support of our interagency partners,” Air Force Gen. Craig McKinley said. The 1,200 troops will support Border Patrol and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement authorities in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

Tropical Storm “Bonnie”

Bonnie is expected to make landfall early Sunday [July 25] near the mouth of the Mississippi River with 40 mile per hour winds and a possible four-foot storm surge. The prospect of toxic oil residue surging into low-lying communities is not sitting well with Gulf Coast residents.

Along Louisiana’s coastline, parish officials are preparing residents for possible evacuation, even though oil has stopped leaking into the Gulf and hundreds of cruising skimmers could only find 50 barrels of oil to collect on Thursday. But Bonnie could give researchers insight into the extent to which kerosene dispersants have ultimately helped or hurt the Gulf oil spill relief effort.

Yes, America, you are watching while Washington burns and self destructs before our very eyes. What does a country and its citizens do as their nation continues to collapse? What are you going to do? The Declaration of Independence states:

We cannot permit the current leaders in the White House and Halls of Congress to continue in their efforts to lead us down the road of Progressive Socialism. This is the current battle that we Constitutionalists face and we must be aggressive in our efforts. Notice, I have eliminated the terms from my vocabulary of liberal…conservative…Democrat…Republican…left and right as they have little meaning in today’s battle for our Country. Incompetence and Dishonesty of officials now the norm, as it relates to our National Security and Economy and is the rationale for resignations and a change of government.

There must be a calling and a plea for we Americans to Demand Resignation of these officials by the people of this country. We are even at a point that if Demand Resignations and elections do not happen to the degree to save the country then we must proceed to Impeachment and a serious transfer of Power at the highest levels of government.

Lincoln issued this warning in his inaugural address,

“Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up and shake off the existing government and form a new one. This is a most valuable and sacred right – a right which we hope and believe is to liberate the world.”

Being a representative republic, not a democracy, and “rising up” means other than revolution by use of arms. The people must “rise up” (Stand Up as we now say) from the grass roots across this great country as we think of the greater good of this and future generations. We are limited in the peaceful transfer of power…resignation, elections, and impeachment.

The oath is simple and reads:

“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same, that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.”

Sadly, we have seen them violate their oath. Fraud, lying, and corruption are rampant and some have engaged in treasonous activities, and they effectively thumb their noses at us and have sold you to the highest bidder.

The Articles of Confederation were replaced with the Constitution, which granted the federal government enough authority to cultivate, promote, and secure the Blessings of Liberty. The balance of authority and individual liberty was understood. Power was confined to that which was enumerated in the Constitution with a certain and meaningful intent for check and balances.

Article One, S5, CII and the 10th Amendment provides the authority but this has been trumped by a system that rewards the powerful. In 1803 each congressional district averaged 38,476 people. In 2010 it is forecast to exceed 710,000. These numbers indicate power growth, and it effectively grew eight fold in the 20th century alone. No wonder our representatives seek to stay in office so long. Power, money and benefits beyond the reach of most Americans are the basis now for many politicians and revolving door appointees staying in office.

They must be termed out. With incumbency comes power. The party in the majority assigns power, so a long-term sitting representative can expect such power. A representative expected to stay in office in the 3rd Congress for approximately two years now expects 12 years, or 6 terms – so much for a “citizen government.” But this can be changed through grass roots organization and discourse. We must make it a local imperative and movement….of the People…by the People… and For the People.

“We, the People” have had enough. Enough is Enough.

The Obama White House and identifiable Members of Congress are now on a progressive socialist and treasonous death march and are bankrupting the country beyond expectations. We have watched them violate their sacred oath of office. “We, the People” cannot necessarily wait for the next round of elections. It is now that many of these public servants (and you know who they are) must put the people and the country’s interests above self-interest by resigning immediately. A civil uprising is still not out of the question as “pain” grips the country more each day. I am confident resignations will be forthcoming based on the efforts of the people. The 2010 vote is critical. This means raising your voice now to your neighbors, family, co-workers, and friends.

“We are the Masters of our Fate and Captains of our Soul”. I pray for another George Washington to appear within the year and lead us.

While Charlie Rangel (D-NY) is investigated for ethics violations stemming from his tax returns and influence peddling, he wants every American to serve mandatory duty to the country in uniform or in civil support of law enforcement agencies like the DHS.

It has been 729 days since Rep. Charlie Rangel publicly appealed for an ethics investigation into his own actions. He’s still awaiting the outcome.

The New York Democrat, who has paid more than $1.5 million to date on legal fees, faces a multipronged investigation into his personal finances, living arrangements, fundraising efforts and even his use of a House parking space.

The investigation into Rangel, begun in July 2008, has yet to set a House record for longevity. But Congressional ethics observers acknowledge that nearly two years is nonetheless a lengthy inquiry.

Fox News reports just now: The Rangel investigation is formally bringing charges with multiple ethics violations today.

Talk about ironies, do as he says, not as he does. Yes I can smell the air of irony too. It reeks like rotting flesh.

To those of us who have been studying terrorism, jihad, and Islam itself for many years, it is difficult for us to understand why world politicians, and lay people alike do not understand what we already know to be true. It is difficult to have a discussion with people who clearly do not understand the differences between western thought and eastern thought, especially where Islam is involved.

In fact, it is apparent to we non-Muslims of understanding that many, and I dare say most Muslims do not know what we know. The reason is obvious to us, they have only listened to people that tell them what the teacher wants them to hear. They have, like most other people on earth, not taken the time to self-educate, to study, to understand. In our sound-bite mentality world in the west, this is utterly apparent. What is more disturbing is that most Muslims including many Imams are woefully under-educated in their own so-called religion.

I can say this, because I have argued with numerous Muslims, I have seen and heard others argue with them, and in virtually every case, it was easy to shred their core beliefs with facts they never knew. There are so many examples of these types of discussions, but most people never hear them, nor do they care. That is what is so frustrating to those of us who do understand Islam, its creator, its Qu’ran, and its teachings.

Therefore, it was great to see a video come out that in very simple terms breaks the ice for the unknowing, the ignorant, and the deniers. This is true, make no mistake, please watch:

U.S. Court of Appeals Slams Secretary of State Rice:

Re-Designation of Iranian Opposition Group as Terrorist Flawed

Washington, DC – On 16 July 2010, the U.S. Court of Appeals – D.C. Circuit ruled that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice erred in renewing the terrorist listing of an Iranian opposition group, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI). The Court ordered Secretary Clinton to review the process of re-designation.

According to IPC President and former member of the National Security Council at the White House, Professor Raymond Tanter, “The Court’s decision provides Secretary Clinton with an opportunity to reverse the errors of Secretary Rice.”

The Court asserted, “The PMOI was notified of the Secretary’s [Rice’s] decision and permitted access to the unclassified portion of the record only after the decision was final. And even though the PMOI was given the opportunity to include in the record its own evidence supporting delisting, it had no opportunity to rebut the unclassified portion of the record the Secretary was compiling…”

According to R. Bruce McColm, President of the Institute for Democratic Strategies, “Clinton’s review could allow the PMOI to rebut questionable evidence Rice used.” Regarding that evidence, the Court judged, “Some of the reports included in the Secretary’s analysis on their face express reservations about the accuracy of the information contained therein…the Secretary did not indicate whether she accepted or discredited the reports…” As McColm points out, the Clinton State Department conceded that “the ultimate sources of the information was [sic] unknown and as such, their access, veracity, and motivations were unknown…”

General Thomas McInerney (Lt Gen, US Air Force Ret) said, “Condoleezza Rice’s errors do not surprise me in the least, given her pattern of appeasing rogue regimes, such as Syria, North Korea, and Iran. By failing to follow the rule of law in re-designating an organization that represents pro-democracy forces in Iran, Rice appeases the ayatollahs and suppresses democracy in Iran.”

General Paul Vallely (MG, US Army Ret) said, “National security grounds can be used as a basis to revoke a terrorist designation; Secretary Rice’s failure to appreciate the national security benefits of revoking the PMOI listing was typical of her tenure as Secretary of State. The PMOI provides valuable intelligence on Tehran’s subversion of Iraq and the Iranian nuclear program. Such information provided by the PMOI could be used as lead intelligence to compare with that provided by Iranian defectors, such as nuclear scientist Shahram Amiri.”

Stand Up America presented an article only a short few months back entitled Enemy Infiltration by an Ideology. Within, it was noted that the United States has been infiltrated by the Soviet Union dating back to the 1960’s. The espionage tactic was not traditional; rather the concept was extremely unconventional to those understanding the art of espionage.

The entire principle of Russian espionage tactics used against the United States was simple; socially condition the masses with memes. A meme, is a unit of cultural ideas, symbols or practices, which can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena. Memes are akin to the human gene that physically transfers traits to offspring. The meme transfers a thought pattern that is adopted by others.

A great example is the fad of wearing clothing with the visage of Che Guevara imprinted on them. A man who was reviled by their grandparents, somehow became a status symbol among our youth.

The “Che” Phenomenon

Interestingly enough, a meme is only as strong as the human network it strikes as a social virus. Until recently, it was not easy to identify the memes that were sown ages before. Americans were taught to think for themselves. However, today, we seem memes manifested openly, and the result has become groupthink. The best example of that style of meme was the hope and change and fundamental transformation political statements of the Obama campaign. Our society swallowed the meme like a pill and in lock step, devoid of individual reasoning, voted for the man with the glib tongue who implanted memes throughout his entire campaign.

Take a second and ask yourself one very simple question. When was the last time you worked in an environment where a decision was made without going to the round table; a decision was made without group thought? The groupthink phenomenon has a certain underlying aspect that makes it impossible to think for yourself. If you do not agree with the group, then you are on the outside, the enemy, a freak, a racist. You must have nefarious intentions and therefore your thought is cast aside, and the meme has succeeded.

The premise of groupthink on the surface has numerous positives, however; the negatives far outweigh the positive but are not identifiable until it is too late. Another example may take place in your workplace. The CEO may gather you together to discuss a decision that must be made. It sounds like you have been invited into the inner sanctum by being invited, but what you don’t know is that the reason for the meeting is actually a method to see who disagrees. The decision has been made, but the meme needs to be fed. If you disagree in that meeting, you may as well pack up your office. Maybe you survive this time, but surely if you do it more than once, you are toast, for good.

In the United States today, we have been infiltrated with a meme that is corrupting our own thought process as individuals. The tactic used to promote this is known as social and cultural cognition. Cultural Cognition is a theory related to the shaping of our own individual opinions to conform to the views of the groups with which we most strongly identify. This theory is often taught in psycho-anthropological educational settings.

Today, the main stream media and entrenched politicians alike have conceptualized grand strategies based upon their own Marxist ideologies incorporating this cultural cognition principle, or meme. Don’t believe me? Why it is that today, anyone who speaks out against President Barrack Obama is immediately construed as a racist, or a mob, or a right wing radical? Why is it that today, that the NAACP viciously attacks the Tea Party as racists, yet their own allies in Eric Holder’s office do the very thing the NCAA purports?

More intriguing, what was the real story of the Russian spy ring caught inside America? If they were not seeking state level secrets as the publicly released affidavit states, what were they attempting? Were they attempting to ‘get close with policy makers?’ Was there an alternative meme in play?

America is rapidly losing its independent intelligence founded within “We the People.” More concerning is the fact that no one appears to stand up against this old Russian tactic of infiltrating and influencing our own individual thought and free will because the truth is, our most sacred freedom of individualism is rapidly deteriorating. Groupthink is now the norm, and anyone who does not agree will find themselves on some sort of list. Maybe the list John Brennan and the White House have tabulated of Americans to be assassinated.

Why don’t we “Stand Up America?” It is time to stand up against these memes of social and cultural principles. Let’s refuse to allow the indoctrination of these negative memes that are rapidly assisting a socialistic agenda within the corrupt Washington D.C. elite. Stand up and re-introduce individual thought. Learn how to think as an individual again by educating yourself, speaking truth to power and groupthink, boldly embracing the values we grew up with, and that our founding fathers gave us the opportunity to seek life, liberty, and happiness. It is the only true medicine to defeat the social and cultural virus of Marxism here within the United States.

It’s a question I often get from people who suppose I have a telepathic hotline to Benjamin Netanyahu’s brain. I don’t, but for a long time I was confident that an attack would happen in the first six months of this year. Since it didn’t, it’s worth thinking through why.

First, though, let me explain my previous thinking. In the spring of 2008, there was intense speculation that then-Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, fresh from ordering an attack on a covert Syrian reactor, was giving serious thought to an Israeli strike on Iran. President Bush – who Israelis believed would give them the diplomatic cover and logistical support they would need for such a strike, especially if things went amiss – had only a few months left to go. The release of the December 2007 National Intelligence Estimate claiming (erroneously, as we now know) that Iran had halted its nuclear weaponization effort meant it was highly unlikely that the U.S. would attack.

Finally, Israeli planners understood that the longer they delayed a strike, the harder it would be to achieve meaningful effects. Iran would have more time to harden its facilities, improve its defenses, and disperse its nuclear materials.

So why didn’t Israel act then? A variety of reasons, the most plausible of which was that Mr. Olmert believed an Israeli strike on Iran was a huge gamble, and that it would be rash to attack before every diplomatic, political or covert means to stop Iran’s nuclear bid had been explored. Then came Barack Obama with his time-limited offer to negotiate with Tehran, followed by Iran’s post-election unrest, which briefly aroused hopes that the regime might be toppled from within.

By the end of last year, it was clear that both hopes were misplaced. It was clear that the limited sanctions being contemplated by the Obama administration were not of a kind to deter Iran from its nuclear bids. It was clear that those bids were moving steadily closer to fruition. And it was clear that the administration was ill-inclined to take military action of its own.

All of which persuaded me that, having duly given Mr. Obama’s diplomacy the benefit of the doubt, Israel – under the more hawkish leadership of Mr. Netanyahu – would strike, sooner rather than later. Plainly I was wrong.

What gives?

Here are four theories in ascending order of significance and plausibility.

The first is that Israeli military planners have concluded that any attack would be unlikely to succeed (or succeed at a reasonable price). Maybe. But this analysis fails to appreciate the depth of Israeli fears of a nuclear Iran, and the lengths they are prepared to go to stop it. A successful strike on Iran may be at the outer periphery of Israel’s capabilities, but senior Israeli military and political leaders insist it is not completely beyond it.

A second theory is that Israel is biding its time as it improves its military capabilities on both its offensive and defensive ends. Yesterday Israel completed tests of its Iron Dome missile defense shield, designed to guard against the kind of short-range rockets that Hamas and Hezbollah might use in retaliation against an Israeli strike on Iran. The system will begin coming on line in November. Israel is also mulling the purchase of a semi-stealthy variant of the F-15 as an alternative to the much more expensive F-35, delivery of which has been delayed till 2015. What Israel decides could be a telling indicator of what it intends.

The third theory concerns the internal dynamics of Israeli politics. Mr. Netanyahu may favor a strike, but he will not order one without the consent of Defense Minister Ehud Barak, President Shimon Peres, Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi and perhaps also Mossad chief Meir Dagan. This inner cabinet is said to be uniformly against a strike, with the wavering exception of Mr. Barak. But Mr. Ashkenazi and Mr. Dagan are due to step down within a few months, and who Mr. Netanyahu chooses to replace them will have a material bearing on the government’s attitude toward a strike.

Finally, Israeli leaders are mindful of history. Put aside the routine comparisons between a prospective military strike on Iran with Israel’s quick and effective destruction of Iraq’s Osirak reactor in 1981. As I’m reminded by Michael Doran, a Middle East scholar at NYU, Israel’s leaders are probably no less alert to the lessons of the Suez War in 1956. Back then, a successful military operation by Britain, France and Israel to humiliate Egypt’s Gamel Abdel Nasser (in many ways the Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of his day) fell afoul of the determined political opposition of the Eisenhower administration, which mistakenly thought that it could curry favor with the Arabs by visibly distancing itself from Israel and its traditional European allies. Sound familiar?

There is now talk that the Obama administration may be reconsidering its military options toward Iran. Let’s hope so. Israel may ultimately be willing to attack Iran once it reckons that it has run out of other options, as it did prior to the Six Day War. But its tactical margin for error will be slim, particularly since an effective strike will require days not hours. And the political risks it runs will be monumental. As Mr. Doran notes, in 1956 it could at least count on the diplomatic support of two members of the U.N. Security Council. Today, the U.S. is its last significant friend.

This is an unenviable position, and Israel’s friends abroad would do well to spare it easy lectures. Iran is not Israel’s problem alone. It should not be Israel’s problem alone to solve, to its own frightful peril.

MG Paul Vallely has some excellent questions for our civilian and miitary leadership today. He also has some excellent answers – all of which involve abandoning once and for the self-destructive, self-defeating, not to mention masochistic, strategies of “counter-insurgency” (COIN) doctrine and nation-building.

As Gen. Vallely points out: “The COIN principle is not based on winning; it is based on political whims and is not a true tenet of warfare. Warfare is, and always should be, about WINNING.”

Winning this specific war against forces impelled by Islamic ideology calls for unconventional measures, Gen. Vallely writes, not the conventional actions followed by lengthy occupations such as we have seen and are seeing in Iraq and Afghanistan. Such an unconventional war doctrine, as he writes below, “heavily leverages the core capability to break enemy states, target and destroy the enemy’s capability to bring harm to America” – what Gen. Vallely has long advocated as the “unheralded” Global Lily Pad strategy.

Get this through the Pentagon’s head and maybe we’ll get somewhere.

On Monday, June 28, 2010, The Supreme Court reaffirmed the Second Amendment during the trial of McDonald vs. Chicago. The 5-4 ruling confirmed that neither a state nor city, acting under a grant of authority from the state, could deny a person the right to possess a firearm. This was seen as a victory for gun rights activists, but with the United Nations Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) treaty looming in the near future, this fight is far from over.

The U.N. program of action concerning SALW includes restrictions on the manufacturing, storing, transferring and possession of firearms and ammunition if it is not adequately marked. It ensures that once SALW’s program is enacted all licensed manufacturers must apply a unique marking identifying the country of manufacture, manufacturer, and serial number of the weapon. Weapons that lack this unique marking that are confiscated, seized, or collected will be destroyed. These restrictions will be enforced on a national, regional, and global scale.

Once the treaty is signed, if you happen to own a gun that was manufactured without this “unique marking,” you are in violation of the law and must turn over your weapon to authorities. This includes guns that were obtained legally. With gun laws in the U.S. that already place many restrictions on the sale of personal firearms, the adoption of this treaty would further infringe on the Second Amendment of the Constitution. When the founding fathers of the U.S wrote that, “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed,” they made no mention of unique markings.

John Bolton, US Representative to the UN under the George W. Bush administration, says, “The [Obama] administration is trying to act as though this is really just a treaty about international arms trade between nation states, but there’s no doubt – as was the case back over a decade ago – that the real agenda here is domestic firearms control.”

The U.N.’s reasons for planning to draft stricter gun laws in the future are mostly related to stopping the illicit trade of small arms and light weapons. However, the President of the Conference on the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons, Camilo Reyes Rodriguez of Colombia, in July 2001, stated his disappointment on the “inability to agree… on language recognizing the need to establish and maintain controls over private ownership of these deadly weapons and the need for preventing sales of such arms to non-State groups.” Rodriguez said that these steps were “two of the most important.”

The U.N. shows “overwhelming support” for such measures, according to Rodriguez. The U.N. claims these gun laws would help to lessen gun violence, but statistics foretell a different outcome. A survey by the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) in 2001 found that the top three states with the most gun ownership in America were Massachusetts, Connecticut and Kentucky (in descending order). Another study, by Statehealthfacts.org in 2002, ranked the states with the least gun related deaths per 100,000 people. Hawaii had the least gun-related deaths followed by Massachusetts and Connecticut. The District of Columbia had the most gun related deaths and conversely the least amount of guns owned.

Worldwide gun-related deaths also don’t show any support for more restrictive gun laws. The Eighth United Nations Survey on Crime Trends and the Operations of Criminal Justice Systems in 2002 found that South Africa, Columbia and Thailand topped the list of countries with the most murders by firearms per capita. Yet when 178 countries were ranked in descending order by which had the most civilian firearms per 100 people, South Africa came in 50th place, Columbia was 91st and Thailand was 39th.

You can’t argue that stricter gun control and fewer guns owned by citizens would diminish gun violence when looking at the facts. If a country were to confiscate its citizen’s guns by national law, it would leave guns in the hands of only the government and criminals. I’m not sure which group is more terrifying. When criminals are the only people who possess handguns, law-abiding citizens are powerless to defend themselves. This makes non-criminals easy targets and gun crimes rise respectively.

This was proven to all countries when England enacted a ban on ownership of handguns in 1997. Two years after the gun ban had gone into effect the Countryside Alliance’s Campaign for Shooting found that the use of handguns in crime had risen 40%.

David Bredin, the director of the campaign, said, “It is crystal clear from the research that the existing gun laws do not lead to crime reduction and a safer place.” The reason stricter gun control did not mean less violence, the campaign concluded, was “existing laws are targeting legitimate users of firearms rather than criminals.”

If gun control does not coincide with a safer society, then the U.N. has no ground for declaring controls on private ownership would help solve the illegal trafficking of firearms. In fact, if prohibition taught us anything, it is that restrictions do not decrease demand, but only cut supply. When supply drops and demand stays the same, prices rise and incentives lead to added underground crime rings. The U.N. should drop the gun laws, pick up some history books and take a few notes. Maybe then they could focus on something useful like stopping Iran’s nuclear program.

So I guess all that hysteria about the Arizona immigration law was much ado about nothing. After months of telling us that the Nazis had seized Arizona, when the Obama administration finally got around to suing, its only objection was that the law was “pre-empted” by federal immigration law.

With the vast majority of Americans supporting Arizona’s inoffensive little law, the fact that Obama is suing at all suggests that he consulted exclusively with the craziest people in America before filing this complaint. (Which is to say, Eric Holder’s Justice Department.)

But apparently even they could find nothing discriminatory about Arizona’s law. It’s reassuring to know that, contrary to earlier indications, government lawyers can at least read English.

Instead, the administration argues, federal laws on immigration pre-empt Arizona’s law under the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution.

State laws are pre-empted by federal law in two circumstances: When there is a conflict – such as “sanctuary cities” for illegals or California’s medical marijuana law – or when Congress has so thoroughly regulated a field that there is no room for even congruent state laws.

If Obama thinks there’s a conflict, I believe he’s made a damning admission. There’s a conflict only if the official policy of the federal government is to ignore its own immigration laws.

Only slightly less preposterous is the argument that although Arizona’s law agrees with federal law, Congress has engaged in “field pre-emption” by occupying the entire field of immigration, thus prohibiting even harmonious state laws.

Field pre-emption may arise, for example, in the case of federal health and safety laws, so that manufacturers of cars, medical devices and drugs aren’t forced to comply with the laws of 50 different states to sell their products nationally.

And yet, just over a year ago, the Supreme Court held that there was no “field pre-emption” even in the case of an FDA-approved anti-nausea drug because Congress had not explicitly stated that state regulation was pre-empted.

The drug, Phenergan, came with the warning that, if administered improperly (so that it enters an artery), catastrophe could ensue.

In April 2000, Phenergan was administered improperly to Diana Levine – by a clinician ignoring six separate warnings on Phenergan’s label. Catastrophe ensued; Levine developed gangrene and had to have her lower arm amputated.

Levine sued the health center and clinician for malpractice, and won.

But then she also sued the drug manufacturer, Wyeth Laboratories, on the grounds that it should have included more glaring warnings about proper administration of the drug – like, I don’t know, maybe a flashing neon sign on each vial.

Wyeth argued that since the Food and Drug Administration (after 54 years of study) had expressly approved the warnings as provided, state tort law was pre-empted by the federal drug regime.

But the Supreme Court held that Congress had to make pre-emption explicit, which it had not, so Levine was awarded $6.7 million from Wyeth.

If ever there were a case for “implicit pre-emption,” this was it. Without federal supremacy for the FDA’s comprehensive regulation of drugs, pharmaceutical companies are forever at the mercy of state and local laws – and trial lawyers – in all 50 states.

As much as I would like pharmaceutical companies to rot in hell for their support of ObamaCare, I might need their drugs someday. Now, drug prices will not only have to incorporate R&D costs, but also the cost of paying for trial lawyers’ Ferraris. (Perhaps that should be listed as a side effect: “Caution! Improper use may cause nausea, dizziness, shortness of breath, and six new houses for John Edwards.”)

But the point is: According to the Supreme Court’s most recent pre-emption ruling, Arizona’s law is not pre-empted because Congress did not expressly prohibit state regulation of illegal aliens.

In fact, the Supreme Court has repeatedly rejected the pre-emption argument against state laws on immigrants—including laws somewhat at odds with federal law, which the Arizona law is not.

In the seminal case, De Canas v. Bica (1976), the court held 8-0 that a California law prohibiting employers from hiring illegal immigrants was not pre-empted by federal law.

The court – per Justice William Brennan – said that the federal government’s supremacy over immigration is strictly limited to:

(1) a “determination of who should or should not be admitted into the country,” and

(2) “the conditions under which a legal entrant may remain.”

So a state can’t start issuing or revoking visas, but that’s about all it can’t do.

Manifestly, a state law about illegal immigrants has nothing to do with immigrants who enter legally or the condition of their staying here. Illegal aliens have neither been “admitted into the country” nor are they “legal entrants.”

Indeed, as Brennan noted in the De Canas case, there’s even “a line of cases that upheld certain discriminatory state treatment of aliens lawfully within the United States.” (You might want to jot some of this down, Mr. Holder.)

So there’s no “field pre-emption” of state laws dealing with aliens, nor is there an explicit statement from Congress pre-empting state regulation of aliens.

On top of that, the Supreme Court has repeatedly upheld state laws on immigrants in the face of pre-emption challenges. Arizona’s law is no more pre-empted than the rest of them.

Unless, of course, Obama is right and it’s a violation of federal law to enforce federal immigration laws, which is the essence of the Department of Justice’s lawsuit.

VA Secretary Eric Shinseki will get the Senate hearing he didn’t want.

Editor’s Note: To Quote Fox News: “We report, you decide” on this one. Food for thought! But from what I have seen in my inbox, there a lot of vets out there with lots of questions, especially to motive. In particular, to Senator Webb.

Sen. James Webb, D-Va., says he will use a Senate Veterans Affairs Committee hearing – rescheduled now for Sept. 23 – to have Shinseki explain his decision to compensate Vietnam veterans, and many surviving spouses, for three more ailments including heart disease.

Shinseki announced last October that ischemic heart disease, Parkinson’s disease and B-Cell leukemia will be added to the list of illnesses presumed caused by exposure to defoliants, including Agent Orange, used to clear jungle in combat areas during the war.

VA projects that the decision will cost $13.4 billion in 2010 alone as it will qualify a few hundred thousand more veterans for service-connected disability compensation.

Those veterans, it now appears, will have to wait at least a few more months before claims can be paid. And there is at least some doubt now they will be paid. That will depend on whether Webb and enough of his colleagues are dissatisfied with the science behind Shinseki’s decision.

In an interview in his Capitol Hill office Wednesday, Webb said he was surprised to find among line items in an emergency wartime supplemental bill (HR 4899) a few weeks ago $13.4 billion attributed to “veterans.” He asked staff to find out what it would fund.

“It came back this was the Agent Orange law,” Webb said. Webb, a highly-decorated Marine from combat service in Vietnam , said this deepened his skepticism over the soundness of that law and how it has been used.

“When the law was passed there were two areas that raised questions for me,” Webb explained. “One was the presumption of exposure for anyone who had been in Vietnam ; 2.7 million people had an automatic presumption of exposure. And then the notion that the VA administrator, now the secretary of veterans’ affairs, has discretion based on scientific evidence to decide a service-connection” to various illnesses. “It’s very broad.”

Webb amended HR 4899 so claims can’t be paid on the three newly-named Agent Orange illnesses until 60 days after a final rule is published.

“This is an area where we have a responsibility to pump for more (information) to tell us specifically how they made the connection. The only appropriate way to do that is say, ‘Let’s fence the money for 60 days and get some clarification here.’”

Webb said he was unaware on finding the $13.4 billion in the bill that Shinseki had asked Sen. Daniel Akaka, D-Hawaii,, chairman of the VA committee, not to hold a hearing on this issue. Akaka had scheduled one for April, then rescheduled for early May when VA declined to send witnesses.

One theme he ran on in 2006, Webb said, was restoring a proper balance of power between the legislative and executive branches. Too much authority had been conceded to, or usurped by, recent administrations.

Webb said he even fired off a letter to President Obama last December challenging a claim he made as he prepared for a summit on climate change that he would return from Copenhagen with a binding agreement.

“I just felt compelled to say, ‘You do not have the constitutional authority to bind the United States to an international agreement. The Congress does.” Webb said.

Shinseki’s decision on Agent Orange strikes Webb as more proof too much power has been conceded to the executive branch.

It was the Carter administration, he said, that adopted a presumption “that everyone who was in Vietnam was exposed” to Agent Orange. At the time, he said, the decision wasn’t “onerous” on VA budgets because the department only had linked Agent Orange to some rare illnesses.

More recently, VA has found links to ailments generally associated with aging, committing VA to pay billions in additional compensation. Webb felt the scientific evidence linking Type II diabetes to Agent Orange in 2001 was soft. He is reluctant to say the same about the three illnesses Shinseki has endorsed until he hears his testimony.

But Webb does intend to question the science behind presuming everyone who served in Vietnam was exposed to defoliants. He knows his own Marine Company was, he said, as were many other units who were engaged in combat in the countryside or handled Agent Orange directly.

“On any given day in Vietnam they say about 10 percent of the people were actually out in direct combat. Percentages are actually higher than that because of rotations…But the majority of the people weren’t in combat” where defoliants were used. “That’s just the reality of it.”

The issue was handled with more precision, he suggested, in the late 1970s when Webb served as legal counsel on the House VA committee.

“The discussions were you could develop a chronological map overlay of where defoliants had been used, and then develop a nexus in someone’s service record on whether they had been in those areas. From that you could say whether these conditions would be presumptively acquired. Back then it was very small in numbers.”

“Everyone up here wants to help veterans — no one more than I do. But a lot of people have asked about this. They want to make sure we’re really (a) following the law and (b) taking care of people who are service connected. I don’t want to be the one person out here doing this. I know Chairman Akaka has joined me in his concerns. The main thing is let’s have Secretary Shinseki come forward and explain the causality.”

In our interview, Webb said VA wouldn’t publish a final regulation until after the Sept. 23 hearing. His staff later said the hearing might fall within the 60-day period, an indication VA officials plan to publish a final rule before the hearing. That would narrow Webb’s window to try to block compensation payments if he and colleagues decide such action is justified.

Stand Up America was created over five years ago by a former Army Major General named Paul Vallely who saw the destruction of our society occurring right under our noses, and the damage being done to our way of life by watering down the Constitution. The goal was to educate regular Americans of this slide into destruction, and to try and find a way to get the USA back on track.

He saw the decline as a military man who served our country for many years in many capacities, and knew he had to do something. He started by constructing a long term business plan that would seek to unite people of similar insight and determination. He knew early on from his war fighting experience that the only way to succeed was to unite forces and create a critical mass that would steer the country back.

It appears that he was not the only one. Happily, there are thousands who had similar ideas and the energy to try but, unfortunately, that means that thousands are doing the same thing, only separately. Separation of forces like this in the military means disaster. Poor communication, lack of supervision and guidance, duplicated efforts, redundancy after redundancy, and little or no funding is a recipe for failure.

Many efforts were made to unite these efforts over the past few years, unfortunately, with little success. Don’t get me wrong, there are some real success stories out there, but by and large, it has not produced that critical mass necessary for the reclamation of our Constitution and our society. Unfortunately there are other problems that are hurting the cause. These lie in the areas of ego, lack of focus, infighting, petty rivalries, deceptive practices, fraud, and stubbornness.

There are also the fringes out there where conspiracy theories abound. These are people who seem to have problems discerning fact from fantasy for whatever reason, and they steadily feed the internet with untruths, bogus stories, unbelievable tripe, and down right lies. These folks cannot be troubled by facts, they have made their minds up and nothing new or disproving of their beliefs will be accepted.

Then there is the media, and the left. The left recognizes the intertwining of these different efforts, good and bad, and regularly use these facts to paint anyone who does not believe as they do as crazies. They use terms like “birthers’, “truthers”, mobs, racists, “astro-turfers”, “tea baggers”, and many other derogatory names. And they are succeeding at marginalizing the more noble efforts in a guilt by association manner.

At some point, we all encounter a moment where cash is no good. Take a flight these days and try to buy an adult amber colored fluid to soften the bumps of a crammed flight in bad weather with cash. Nope, no can do, we do not accept cash on flights anymore.

Cash is no good? But a credit card or ATM card is good? Well the excuses are many, often ranging to one or more of the following:

1 – Dirty, cash spreads germs;

2 – Its bulky, and in confined spaces it is cumbersome;

3 – Cash can be easily stolen, or pilfered because there is no record;

4 – Employees can be tempted to skim off the top;

5 – Its easy to make mistakes;

6 – Correct change is always difficult…

So what is the story? The real story. Well I can understand these problems, but they are vendors, and often you are a captive spender, especially on a flight. But what if you are without credit cards, or ATM cards? Well you are out of luck, and the law does not mandate that the vendor accept cash, only dollars. They can set reasonable rules on payment methods.

Then why do we have cash? Why bother with the expense of printing notes and striking coins? The quick answer is, follow the golden rule. he who has the gold, makes the rules. Yes, our Federal Reserve System that is actually a consortium of banks, and you guessed it, they make the rules.

Well, it is completely wrong, and your liberty is being taken from you at the cash register, or should I say, the card slot or UPC reader. That allows for records to be kept, and that means someone can monitor you, all for the sake of convenience. Easy sell to a fast paced society of spenders. But ask yourself this question: In this failing economy, with the fear of a second dip into recession or depression, do you trust all your financial information to a plastic card and a computer?

Is cash still king? In most places and in most hands it is, but we are on a slippery slope leading to a cashless system where someone will be monitoring your transactions. All of them. What did you spend at that restaurant, how many drinks did you have? Maybe the police will soon be able to use that information to prosecute you in court for drunk driving. A quick subpoena, and poof, you are in prison, or at least in jail for the night.

Where did you stay the other night? Was it in a hotel? With a mistress? Does it show on your monthly statement where and who you stayed with? Maybe the hubby or the wife will use that info in court at your divorce hearing. It is not a good moral thing to do, but as a citizen, with cash, try to get that hotel room. You are being tracked now, imagine a government that passes looser laws about acquiring that data after cash is gone? You have lost your liberty.

Try to rent a car with cash. It takes months to get on the allowed to use cash list. You cannot. They need your Credit Card so they can prevent you from stealing the car because they now have a paper trail to ensure you do not. That forces you into a cab, at exorbitantly higher prices to get where you want without a card. As this economy tanks, a great deal of people are now on a cash basis, and no bank is going to give them credit, or allow you to open a checking account to get an ATM card. Your are now a victim of a rigged system. They have you, and you do not have a clue.

If you are in a sad state of financial affairs, you may as well go live under a bridge, because the system is not here to help you, it is here to control you. If you do have funds in a bank, expect to get reported to the Fed if you transfer $5,000 or more anywhere, anyhow. The Patriot Act sets a voluntary reporting level, and a mandatory reporting level on such transactions.

Again, you are being observed.

On the dollar bill, it says: “This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private” but that holds zero weight, and soon will likely be totally void. So I ask you, Do you feel comfy now?

It is simple, as a United State Citizen, it is nobody’s business what I spend money on, or how. I guess we have given over the ship to the financiers of the world. Soon, cash will be gone. Hell, the UN already wants the world system to change base currencies from the Dollar standard. Feeling comfier now?

Time to get rid of the Federal Reserve System! When cash is no longer good, you have no more liberties!

Please watch the video, then read the article. Its out of control, and Washington, D.C. just does not get it. DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano downplays what the state’s on the border know to be more. Who does she work for?

There should be a 20 mile ‘no go zone’ on the Mexican side of the border enforced by the USA. Like many of you, I have been tracking and watching the Obama Administration and Attorney General Eric Holder file a suit against the Arizona Law which reinforces the Federal Law on Immigration. We hear today that if the Federal Government is not successful on the first suit they (the Government) will file a follow-up suit to get their dictatorial way. The Feds are using the rationale of human rights infringements and “racial profiling”. Give me a break, please! YES, we, the people of the United States by a clear majority, are profiling. Let me be blunt and to the point. We are profiling…we are profiling illegal invaders and aliens who are coming across our borders. We do not care about their ethnicity and their color. We do care about their background, where they are coming from and for what reason they are transiting our borders illegally. Regardless of the many claims of groups today, the territorial boundaries are set in law.

The concerns and anxiety of Americans, particularly in the Border States have grown significantly in the past year. Governor Jan Brewer has had to take extraordinary legislative action to help rectify the situation and we applaud her and others in Arizona for their initiative and courage. We encourage other States to follow Arizona’s lead. Changes in law enforcement operations have forced smugglers of drugs and illegal aliens into ever more isolated areas, increasing the number of deaths and the level of violence to a point where even the most hardened enforcement officials are alarmed. The local sheriffs in the borders states have declared they cannot control the situation alone. We know the Mexican government is trying to enforce some laws but to date unable to neutralize the criminal and illegal transiting.

It is now time to enforce the rule-of-law and take the battle to the invaders and not Arizona and our other border states which many legal scholars believe is an infringement on the 11th Amendment. The fact is that America and its citizens are in danger daily. Obama, Holder and certain Members of Congress are fighting the wrong battle and need to stop blaming others; instead they should enforce the laws already on the books. Let us wake up America. If our Federal Government will not execute an operational plan to secure our southern borders then the States and the people must do it. However, let me provide an executable plan of operations for the Federal Government to undertake with resolve and commitment to protect and secure the American people.

As some of you may be aware, the California fire season has begun, at least two months early. I bring this to your attention because Stand Up America US is operated out of Southern California in the high desert. The June gloom has died out early as the marine layers that normally blanket us have gone, and the furnace has been switched on. The past week saw temperatures well over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

With this comes one of nature’s most awesome, dangerous, yet beautiful phenomenon; the thunderstorm. Not as common here like it is in the Midwest and the Great Plains, but every bit as dangerous. Not because of tornadoes, but lightening. Thursday, the lightening came to the extremely dry, yet lush high desert and lit the skies up, and ignited several fires in Riverside County.

Unfortunately, I was right in the middle between three separate fires, one just a few hundred yards away. Needless to say, this shut me down from working on our blog, as the phones were out, internet connectivity was very inconsistent at best, and we had a lot of work to do to save livestock, help neighbors, and hope for more rain.

Well, as Thunderstorms start such wild fires, they also put them out, at least temporarily. Thanks to the skies for knocking the worst one down, the real close one, which if it had not come, meant implementation of evacuation orders from the law enforcement community here.

This meant that I could not add content to our site for you for the last 48 hours, but as you can see, we are back up and running. For your own understanding of what fire seasons are like, there is nothing like a picture to tell the story. I am happy to report that we did not lose any homes, livestock, or lives here. From this point forward, until winter, the red-flag is up, and caution is in the air.

The first signs of wildfire after a lightening strike, where ultra-dry fuel stands awaiting any spark, and in seconds, the plume of smoke towers high into the air.

That fireball jumps the road, and within seconds those trees, all over thirty feet tall, just disappeared. I was standing at that point less then 30 seconds earlier.

The fire, now across a forty foot road, wind swept, rampages down the mountain, right towards neighbors’ houses.

Too close for comfort, snapping shots as I drive backwards at high speed.

That ridge is engulfed in seconds. Surprisingly, the house next to it evaded the fire somehow.

Fire races downhill, those spires of fire are over 100 feet in the air, fueled by cool downhill wind.

The next day, one of the bigger fires reignites and it takes the S2 tankers, dropping orange flame retardant, and Helicopter Tankers dropping water to knock it down again. Hundreds of dumps later, and it is a smoldering quiet world. This time, the fire was fueled by updrafts and was racing back up the mountain. That helicopter was 500 feet below the ledge I was standing upon, having dumped thousands of gallons of water on the scorched earth below. What you see is some spray as the dump was completed, and those are rocks and black earth below it.

Sunset Thursday night. Smoke fills the skies for miles, making the orange and purple glow. All is calm, for now!

Charred rocks and earth. What was just seconds before, lush sage brush, desert flowers, and small trees. Gone, but the desert will bloom again as it has forever.

As over-leveraged investment houses began to fail in September 2008, the leaders of the Republican and Democratic parties, of major corporations, and opinion leaders stretching from the National Review magazine (and the Wall Street Journal) on the right to the Nation magazine on the left, agreed that spending some $700 billion to buy the investors’ “toxic assets” was the only alternative to the U.S. economy’s “systemic collapse.”

In this, President George W. Bush and his would-be Republican successor John McCain agreed with the Democratic candidate, Barack Obama. Many, if not most, people around them also agreed upon the eventual commitment of some 10 trillion nonexistent dollars in ways unprecedented in America. They explained neither the difference between the assets’ nominal and real values, nor precisely why letting the market find the latter would collapse America. The public objected immediately, by margins of three or four to one.

When this majority discovered that virtually no one in a position of power in either party or with a national voice would take their objections seriously, that decisions about their money were being made in bipartisan backroom deals with interested parties, and that the laws on these matters were being voted by people who had not read them, the term “political class” came into use. Then, after those in power changed their plans from buying toxic assets to buying up equity in banks and major industries but refused to explain why, when they reasserted their right to decide ad hoc on these and so many other matters, supposing them to be beyond the general public’s understanding, the American people started referring to those in and around government as the “ruling class.” And in fact Republican and Democratic office holders and their retinues show a similar presumption to dominate and fewer differences in tastes, habits, opinions, and sources of income among one another than between both and the rest of the country.

They think, look, and act as a class.

Although after the election of 2008 most Republican office holders argued against the Troubled Asset Relief Program, against the subsequent bailouts of the auto industry, against the several “stimulus” bills and further summary expansions of government power to benefit clients of government at the expense of ordinary citizens, the American people had every reason to believe that many Republican politicians were doing so simply by the logic of partisan opposition. After all, Republicans had been happy enough to approve of similar things under Republican administrations. Differences between Bushes, Clintons, and Obamas are of degree, not kind.

Moreover, 2009-10 establishment Republicans sought only to modify the government’s agenda while showing eagerness to join the Democrats in new grand schemes, if only they were allowed to. Sen. Orrin Hatch continued dreaming of being Ted Kennedy, while Lindsey Graham set aside what is true or false about “global warming” for the sake of getting on the right side of history. No prominent Republican challenged the ruling class’s continued claim of superior insight, nor its denigration of the American people as irritable children who must learn their place. The Republican Party did not disparage the ruling class, because most of its officials are or would like to be part of it.

Never has there been so little diversity within America’s upper crust. Always, in America as elsewhere, some people have been wealthier and more powerful than others. But until our own time America’s upper crust was a mixture of people who had gained prominence in a variety of ways, who drew their money and status from different sources and were not predictably of one mind on any given matter. The Boston Brahmins, the New York financiers, the land barons of California, Texas, and Florida, the industrialists of Pittsburgh, the Southern aristocracy, and the hardscrabble politicians who made it big in Chicago or Memphis had little contact with one another. Few had much contact with government, and “bureaucrat” was a dirty word for all. So was “social engineering.” Nor had the schools and universities that formed yesterday’s upper crust imposed a single orthodoxy about the origins of man, about American history, and about how America should be governed. All that has changed.

Today’s ruling class, from Boston to San Diego, was formed by an educational system that exposed them to the same ideas and gave them remarkably uniform guidance, as well as tastes and habits. These amount to a social canon of judgments about good and evil, complete with secular sacred history, sins (against minorities and the environment), and saints. Using the right words and avoiding the wrong ones when referring to such matters – speaking the “in” language – serves as a badge of identity. Regardless of what business or profession they are in, their road up included government channels and government money because, as government has grown, its boundary with the rest of American life has become indistinct. Many began their careers in government and leveraged their way into the private sector. Some, e.g., Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner, never held a non-government job. Hence whether formally in government, out of it, or halfway, America’s ruling class speaks the language and has the tastes, habits, and tools of bureaucrats. It rules uneasily over the majority of Americans not oriented to government.

The two classes have less in common culturally, dislike each other more, and embody ways of life more different from one another than did the 19th century’s Northerners and Southerners – nearly all of whom, as Lincoln reminded them, “prayed to the same God.” By contrast, while most Americans pray to the God “who created and doth sustain us,” our ruling class prays to itself as “saviors of the planet” and improvers of humanity. Our classes’ clash is over “whose country” America is, over what way of life will prevail, over who is to defer to whom about what. The gravity of such divisions points us, as it did Lincoln, to Mark’s Gospel: “if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.”

The Political Divide

Important as they are, our political divisions are the iceberg’s tip. When pollsters ask the American people whether they are likely to vote Republican or Democrat in the next presidential election, Republicans win growing pluralities. But whenever pollsters add the preferences “undecided,” “none of the above,” or “tea party,” these win handily, the Democrats come in second, and the Republicans trail far behind. That is because while most of the voters who call themselves Democrats say that Democratic officials represent them well, only a fourth of the voters who identify themselves as Republicans tell pollsters that Republican officeholders represent them well. Hence officeholders, Democrats and Republicans, gladden the hearts of some one-third of the electorate – most Democratic voters, plus a few Republicans. This means that Democratic politicians are the ruling class’s prime legitimate representatives and that because Republican politicians are supported by only a fourth of their voters while the rest vote for them reluctantly, most are aspirants for a junior role in the ruling class. In short, the ruling class has a party, the Democrats. But some two-thirds of Americans – a few Democratic voters, most Republican voters, and all independents – lack a vehicle in electoral politics.

Sanctuaries make us all less safe! How ironic!

Sanctuary is a term for cities, counties, or states that are defying a federal law relative to the various government agencies being required to assist the federal government with their illegal immigrants. In 1996 a federal law was passed called the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRIR) that requires local governments to cooperate with Department of Homeland Security’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Contrary to this law, many of these governments are officially or unofficially defying the law and have passed various local policies to ignore the federal law and not question the status of suspected illegal immigrants. Those in defiance of the law prefer to call them undocumented workers and help protect the illegal immigrants from being deported.

IIRIA 1996 – On September 30, 1996, President Clinton signed the Illegal Immigrant Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (“IIRIRA 96”). The new law represents the completion of a legislative process which began shortly after the Republican Party assumed majority party status in the House and Senate after the 1994 mid-term elections.

Okay, so we now know the law. (Does not matter apparently to some) So, what part of the law do these sanctuary cities and states not understand:

Also then, why is the current administration, through the DOJ, not enforcing the laws, and why are they suing Arizona? Because it does not fit their individual liberal policies so they just ignore it. Then when a state decides to enforce it and cooperate with the DHS through ICE, why are they being pilloried and embargoed? Laws are made to keep honest people honest as the old saying goes. It must be nice to only obey the laws they like. Congresses pass laws, and they get to pick and choose which ones they like and dislike. That is diametrically opposed to our foundations as a society based on representative republicanism.

Up is down, black is white, in is out…etc. Why are the law breakers the “good guys” and the law abiding citizens are the “bad guys?” Aren’t we a “rule-of-law” nation? The Obama administration, instead of enforcing the laws, seeks to battle a sovereign state. Then he blames Congress for not “fixing” or creating “comprehensive reform” of the immigration laws. Because they do not like the law, and are finding excuses to ignore it, blaming others, and patronizing us with lofty speeches.

The number of arrests made by Border Patrol agents is one of the few reliable measurements of the rising influx. That number dropped right after 9/11, but it has since been climbing. In fact, the cost of protecting the nation’s borders has increased 58 percent since 9/11, but in three of the four years since the attacks, the number of people nabbed by the Border Patrol still increased. In the fiscal year that ended in September, the Border Patrol reported 1.19 million arrests, compared with 932,000 in fiscal year 2003. The Pew Hispanic Center estimates that the number of illegal immigrants in the United States has grown from 8.4 million in 2000 to 15 million today.

The political ferment over ‘illegals’ has never been greater. 78 percent of Americans think and know that the government is not doing enough to control our borders talk shows bristle with demands for action. Additionally, Global jihad and jihadis are a major threat as they eye the southern border as a path of least resistance to strike inside the United States. Announced last week was a specific intelligent report of Iran proxy, Hezbollah, is now setting up bases of operation in Mexico near the border and are now crossing our Southern Border.

So which country do you live in?

The one that ignores laws, follows all the politically correct rhetoric? Or the one that defends the State of Arizona? Of course we know that the sanctuaries are largely the major population centers, even in Arizona, but there are huge areas where you are safer, or are you? There is a map you can look at that interactively shows you which areas are sanctuaries for the illegals, and by omission where you are safer?

We have to remember one great fact: once they have entered the USA illegally, they can go anywhere. Is your backyard safe? Are your children safe? Did your neighbor get his head chopped off by a drug cartel hitman? Are islamo-facists planning your demise in your own community? The question is actually moot, because we are all unsafe when these sanctuaryists rule, where the “rule-of-law” does not matter anymore.

Now that Arizona has acted, the illegals are fleeing to a location likely near you.

PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota is joining other states in filing a legal brief that backs Arizona’s immigration law, Gov. Mike Rounds and Attorney General Marty Jackley said Tuesday.

South Dakota will support state governments’ joint authority with federal officials to enforce immigration laws, the two Republican officials said.

The state will not be a party in the U.S. Justice Department’s challenge of the Arizona law but will join other states in filing a “friend of the court” brief, Jackley said. Michigan is taking the lead in that effort, so South Dakota likely will bear no costs as it acts in a supporting and advisory role, he said.

The Arizona law, which would take effect July 29, would require state and local police to question and possibly arrest illegal immigrants during the enforcement of other laws such as traffic stops. Opponents have said the law will lead to racial profiling.

The U.S. Justice Department recently filed a federal lawsuit seeking to block the Arizona law, arguing that immigration is a federal issue.

Jackley said he wants to preserve the cooperation among federal, state and local authorities in enforcing federal immigration laws in South Dakota. If the Arizona law is blocked and federal authorities no longer work with state officials to enforce immigration laws, state and local officials might have to release suspected illegal immigrants, Jackley said.

“That would not be in the best interest of South Dakota or public safety in South Dakota,” the attorney general said.

Rounds said the case involves an important legal issue. “Simply put, states should be allowed to enforce federal immigration law.”

Jackley, who was U.S. attorney for South Dakota until about a year ago, said federal authorities prosecuted 61 immigration cases in South Dakota during his last year as the top federal prosecutor in the state. Most immigration cases arise when state or local law officers arrest people for drug offenses, drunken driving or other offenses, he said.

Therefore, let me provide an executable plan of operations for the Federal Government to undertake with resolve and commitment to protect and secure the American people.

I do not have to take the time in this article to explain to the readers the threat and the problems on and across our southern borders of California, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas as it is on the news every day. You would have to live in a perpetual and virtual cave not to know the situation. We have a war of gigantic proportions invasions, treacherous drug cartels, gangs, human trafficking, drugs (is there not a war on drugs???), smuggling, kidnappings, and corruption of officials on both sides of the borders. If I were the Commander-in-Chief, I would be on a war-footing and I would have my military commanders planning and executing a strategy that will swiftly defeat and decisively excise these cancerous enemies.

The plan is basic and with advanced unconventional/conventional war planning. I would at the outset, announce a twenty (20) kilometer “No Go” zone on the Mexican side of the border. If you remember, we established two “no fly” zones in Northern and Southern Iraq. With the use of super intelligence, we would identify the operational locations of the drug cartels, close off lines of transit, stop human trafficking, identify enablers within the zone and cut off all sources of communications.

That is the real battle area.

SUA reported on the Cordoba Mosque some time ago, but very little has come of the situation at Ground Zero where the Mosque is planned, at least in the Main Stream Media, including Fox News which is partly owned by a Saudi Arabian.

The Mosque is planned to be opened on get this: September 11, 2011! The tenth anniversary of the tragedy. But let Pat Condell tell it like only he knows how. Ironic that the truth about America often comes from our allies, outside our country. Wake Up America. Did we all get a dose of the “Stupid Flu”?

Iran and Afghanistan have strategic and regional ties that have not changed in the last nine years. Ties and support to the Taliban and Al Qaeda Jihadis have strengthened. Osama Bin Laden, many of his family and hierarchy, transit continually between Pakistan and Iran. No one is living in any caves in the mountains of Afghanistan that you see continually reported.

To secure Iran’s interest in Afghanistan, Iran has worked for the past decade to firm up all relationships with Afghan players and the other external supporters. Iran knows from bitter experience that the Hazara and the other Dari/Persian-speaking communities provide, at best, inadequate protection for Iranian interests in Afghanistan, because they cannot govern the country in a way that keeps it relatively stable and minimizes Pakistani and Saudi influence. So, alongside its alliances with the Hazara and the other Dari/Persian-speaking groups, Iran has also cultivated ties to some Pashtun elements in Afghanistan and supported the country’s Pashtun President, Hamid Karzai.

As part of Iran’s cultivation of ties to Pashtun elements, Iran has reached out to Taliban factions with money and weapons (IEDS). But we do know from intelligence that America’s ‘ally’ Pakistan is providing vastly more support to the Afghan Taliban than anything the Islamic Republic might be doing at this point. And Tehran remains strongly opposed to the Taliban’s resurgence as a major force in Afghan politics, for two reasons. First, the Taliban have traditionally persecuted Iran’s Afghan allies – especially the Shia Hazara – and have even murdered Iranian diplomats. Second, Tehran sees the Taliban as a pawn for the expansion of Pakistani and Saudi influence in Afghanistan…

Afghanistan is a land (hard to describe as a country) with a jihad war where there is no identifiable ENDGAME and where no victory is achievable under this inglorious and ill-advised strategy of Counter-insurgency. Iran knows this and knows how to use proxy forces in Afghanistan as they have use Hezbollah in Lebanon. This now is the United States’ longest war effort. And yes, more ISAF forces killed and wounded each week with nothing in return for America! After eight years and six months,

America’s longest war is a disaster to date for the US-led NATO forces or at best in a draw, or at worst, in a win for the Taliban, al Qaeda’s extremist partner. Iran sees its hegemony in the region further developing and increasing at the expense of the United States and ISAF Forces. The repercussions of the US exit in these circumstances will impinge on American influence worldwide including the Middle East. The longer the Obama administration clings to the assumption that cooperation with Pakistan and its intelligence agency is the only course for beating the Taliban and al Qaeda, the more elusive an Afghanistan triumph will be for the US and its allies. Iran is winning either way.

In the political and security vacuum that is today’s Afghanistan, Karzai’s effort to engage the Taliban is generating deep unease among Iran’s allies in Afghanistan’s Tajik, Uzbek and Hazara communities. Already, the leadership of these non-Pashtun communities – who also dominate the upper echelons of the Afghan military – are organizing to resist, by force, any serious attempt at power-sharing between Karzai’s government and the Taliban. If the Taliban’s political influence across Afghanistan continues to grow – particularly in an environment conditioned by what Tehran sees as America’s strategic and tactical incompetence – Iran will support its Afghan allies as they push back against a resurgent Taliban.”

As Tehran pursues this strategy within Afghanistan, it must also assess the evolving role of the United States there and the implications of the U.S. posture toward Iran for Iran’s Afghanistan policy. Tehran perceives Washington as hostile to its interest which is the case and is driven by Obama administration’s pursuit of tightened sanctions. Iranian policymakers will regard the United States, along with America’s Pakistani and Saudi allies, as part of the complex of anti-Iranian external players that Iran needs to balance against in Afghanistan.

Steve Emerson’s Investigative Project on Terrorism [IPT] reports that the Hezbos are at the Mexican border – and we’re not talking here about those “moderate elements” of Hezbollah that Obama’s counterterrorism czar is searching for; we’re talking about the jihad’s A-Team (i.e., the guys al Qaeda goes to for training).

As IPT relates:

Hizballah is setting up shop along the American border with Mexico, the Kuwaiti newspaper al-Seyassah reports. In an exclusive story, the Kuwaiti daily revealed that Mexican officials have arrested a Mexican national with ties to the Shiite terrorist group.

The militant, Jameel Nasr, was reportedly under police surveillance for a while, with authorities explaining he had traveled from Lebanon to countries throughout South and Central America, eventually gaining citizenship and a job as a graphic engineer in Mexico. While in Mexico, Nasr reportedly traveled frequently to Lebanon to receive information and instructions from Hizballah commanders.

The issue of border security for the United States, both to the North ad the South, is not new. We recently reported on an investigation by the House Committee on Homeland Security that confirmed the threat is only increasing. In June, Congresswoman Sue Myrick wrote to Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano about this issue, asking that a task force be dedicated to the issue because, in the words of former Chief of Operations for the Drug Enforcement Administration, Michael Braun:

“Hezballah relies on the same criminal weapons smugglers, document traffickers and transportation experts as the drug cartel…They work together; they rely on the same shadow facilitators. One way or another they are all connected.” IPT

Steve goes on to explain that the “report cited Mexican authorities as saying that Nasr had been ‘entrusted with forming a base in South American and the United States to carry out operations against Israeli and Western targets.’”

This is not new news (see, e.g., this 2009 Washington Times report). And let’s not forget that, in 2006, FBI Director Bob Mueller testified to a House Appropriations subcommittee that Hezbollah had a smuggling ring on the Mexican border and had already succeeded in infiltrating a number of its operatives into the U.S. (It would be foolish to think the rings we know about are the only rings that exist.)

As I’ve indicated (see, e.g., here), I don’t think the Justice Department’s lawsuit against Arizona passes the laugh test. More gravely, it would be a dangerous rupture in the social contract on which our republic is based to tell a sovereign state that (a) the federal government will not act to defend it from a foreign threat such as rampant illegal immigration, and yet (b) that the state, by having joined the union, has forfeited its own natural right of self-defense — such that it must passively allow itself to be overrun (and to pay for the privilege).

But even if you bought the Obama Justice Department’s ludicrous premises regarding routine Mexican illegal-immigration, would anyone seriously suggest that a sovereign state cannot protect itself from the threat of international terrorism by a jihadist organization that:

(1) is formally designated as a foreign terrorist organization under federal law,

(2) has killed hundreds of Americans,

(3) is the forward militia of Iran, an enemy whose national motto is “Death to America,” and

(4) is setting up shop on the southern states’ doorstep?

We have all heard about the proverbial ‘can of worms’. The caution associated with that can is if you kick it over, it may not just be worms that come out. Well it appears Missouri’s Secretary of State, Robin Carnahan has done just that. She kicked the can over and it now seems that she released more than worms. She has brought the eligibility of Barack Obama into question by her actions, and has raised the red flag of civil rights violations on citizens of Missouri. And you thought Arizona has issues.

As the Secretary of State for Missouri, Robin Carnahan’s office challenged the eligibility of her Republican opponent for Senator, Hector Maldonado based on his citizenship. The underdog for the Republican space on the ballot produced the documents necessary, but what about Obama when he was on the Missouri ballot? Did the Democrat Secretary of State challenge Obama as she did Maldanado? Since Obama will be stumping for her in Missouri soon, the game has gotten very interesting indeed.

According to Maldonado …the votes that he [Obama] got from Missouri…should be taken back. And hopefully, other states do the same thing and sue [Missouri Secretary of State Robin] Carnahan and their other secretaries of states, and sooner or later he’s going to have to prove, based on our demand, that he is in fact a U.S. born citizen.

Maldonado is now planning to sue Missouri based on civil rights violations because he was singled out for citizenship inquiries when others weren’t. For those who think Arizona’s new law is a violation of civil rights, please look at a map of the USA, find Arizona, then look to the right, past New Mexico, Texas, and Oklahoma, and focus on Missouri!

What about other states? It appears Illinois has eligibility and voter registration issues, and each state sets their own rules for eligibility, the ability to challenge candidates on these laws, and voter identification, both at the ballot and when registering. It is high time we focused on all these different rules and laws, because there is a larger question:

Are citizens of one state having their civil rights violated because another state has lax laws that allow ineligible voters and candidates to participate?

Since the 11th amendment does not allow a citizen of one state to sue another state in federal court, how do we assure our civil rights if another state does not uphold their own citizens civil rights? The longer Mr. Obama stays in office, and acts upon that office, the questions and evidence continue to emerge that he may not be a rightful holder of the office he now commands. The long history of our rules and laws can be overlooked for only so long. As he continues to act, it just goes to show you how deteriorated our Constitution has become.

The 11th Amendment:

The Judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or Equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by Citizens of another State, or by Citizens or Subjects of any Foreign State.

What part of our Constitution is written in an alien language? Apparently a lot of it. Or so it would seem by all the actions over the last 100 years that were perpetrated against it. Last I looked, it is still in English, our native language, but apparently that does not matter either. We all know that languages change over time, for good and bad, but the words written in the Constitution are clear. Also, when there are no words in it pertaining to a certain subject, then no law can be contrived or derived from it abrogating any section, phrase, clause, or word, including the all important punctuation.

In the latest assault on the Constitution, and its Amendments, the Obama Administration is suing Arizona over its new law SB1070. The President, his administration, and its employees are citizens of the United States of America (arguably in one case at least). Regardless of their positions, they are still citizens so we have that one covered. But yet, the DOJ are still bringing suit in a Federal Court against a sovereign state of the union.

The 11th Amendment is very specific. But yet our courts have found ways around it. There are some specific precedents that courts have deemed necessary, and there is also a Congressional action that can be construed to get around it as well.

At the Free Dictionary The four exceptions are listed:

Exception 1

Eleventh Amendment does not bar all lawsuits brought against state governments in federal court. Four major exceptions have been recognized by the Supreme Court. First, the Eleventh Amendment does not apply to lawsuits brought against a state’s political subdivisions. Accordingly, counties, cities, and municipalities may be sued in federal court without regard to the strictures of the Eleventh Amendment.

Exception 2

The second exception to the Eleventh Amendment permits a state government to waive its constitutional protections by consenting to a lawsuit against it in federal court. For example, Minnesota could waive its Eleventh Amendment protections by agreeing to allow a federal court to hear a lawsuit brought against it.

Exception 3

The third exception permits Congress to abrogate a state’s Immunity from being sued in federal court by enacting legislation pursuant to its enforcement powers under the Equal Protection and Due Process Clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment (Fitzpatrick v. Bitzer, 427 U.S. 445, 96 S. Ct. 2666, 49 L. Ed. 2d 614 [1976]). Congressional intent to abrogate a state’s Eleventh Amendment immunity must be “unmistakably clear” (Atascadero State Hospital v. Scanlon, 473 U.S. 234, 105 S. Ct. 3142, 87 L. Ed. 2d 171 [1985]). Evidence of this intent may be found in the legislative floor debates that precede a congressional enactment (Quern v. Jordan, 440 U.S. 332, 99 S. Ct. 1139, 59 L. Ed. 2d 358 [1979]).

Exception 4

In 1996, the Supreme Court ruled that Congress may not abrogate a state’s Sovereign Immunity from being sued in federal court pursuant to its regulatory powers under the Indian Commerce Clause contained in Article I, Section 8, of the Constitution (Seminole Tribe v. Florida, 517 U.S.44, 116 S. Ct. 1114, 134 L. Ed. 2d 252 (1996). Seminole overruled Pennsylvania v. Union Gas Co., 491 U.S. 1, 109 S. Ct. 2273, 105 L. Ed. 2d 1 (1989), which held that Congress may abrogate a state’s immunity under the Interstate Commerce Clause, which adjoins the Indian Commerce Clause in Article I.

Why the exceptions do not apply:

Exception 1

In this case, option number one does not apply because no sub-divisions of the state are being sued, it is the state itself being sued.

Exception 2

The second option does not apply either. Arizona is not waiving its immunity.

Exception 3

The third option is also not germane. Congress has not acted to abrogate Arizona’s immunity.

Exception 4

Finally, the interstate commerce exception is also null. The DOJ is not seeking relief through the Interstate Commerce Clause because no interstate commerce is affected. Though they may well contrive some excuse here.

It is painfully clear now, that the current administration, is trying to get the Federal Judiciary to make another exception. Why you ask? Well it is hard to say what the actual reasoning is, but it certainly must be part of a grander scheme. It can be the only explanation. When Senator John Kyl of Arizona met with Obama in the Oval Office and was told on June 18th:

“The problem is, . . . if we secure the border, then you all won’t have any reason to support ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’ President Obama

Well there it is folks, its a political ploy, but to what end? Some say its for voting blocs, or a new world order, or Agenda 21 from the UN, or the North America Union. Anyway you slice it, its illegal.

Since the DOJ is doing this, it constitutes yet another high crime or misdemeanor because the President of the United States is condoning the action, thereby once again breaking his oath of office. He is not upholding, or protecting the Constitution of the United States. Instead he seeks once again to dance around the Constitution for nefarious political purposes which constitutes treasonous activity.

In some respect, he is also acting on behalf of a foreign power. It is not a question that Felipe Calderon, President of Mexico dislikes the Arizona Law. And since he issued a travel advisory against Arizona to his Mexican citizens, it can be construed that the DOJ is acting to benefit a foreign power against the wishes of a sovereign state of the union. That is definitely treason.

György Schwartz, better known to the world as George Soros, was born August 12, 1930 in Hungary. Soros’ father, Tivadar, was a fervent practitioner of the Esperantoa language invented in 1887, and designed to be the first global language, free of any national identity.

The Schwartz’s, who were non-practicing Jews, changed the family name to Soros, in order to facilitate assimilation into the gentile population, as the Nazis spread into Hungary during the 1930s.

When Hitler’s henchman Adolf Eichmann arrived in Hungary, to oversee the murder of that country’s Jews, George Soros ended up with a man whose job was confiscating property from the Jewish population. Soros went with him on his rounds.

Soros has repeatedly called 1944 “the best year of his life.”

“70% of Mr. Soros’s fellow Jews in Hungary , nearly a half-million human beings, were annihilated in that year, yet he gives no sign that this put any damper on his elation, either at the time or indeed in retrospect.”

During an interview with “Sixty Minute’s” Steve Kroft, Soros was asked about his “best year:”

KROFT: My understanding is that you went out with this protector of yours who swore that you were his adopted godson.

SOROS: Yes. Yes.

KROFT: Went out, in fact, and helped in the confiscation of property from your fellow Jews, friends and neighbors.

SOROS: Yes. That’s right. Yes.

KROFT: I mean, that sounds like an experience that would send lots of people to the psychiatric couch for many, many years. Was it difficult?

SOROS: Not, not at all. Not at all, I rather enjoyed it.

KROFT: No feeling of guilt?

SOROS: No, only feelings of absolute power.

In his article, Muravchik describes how Soros has admitted to having “carried some rather potent messianic fantasies with me from childhood, which I felt I had to control, otherwise they might get me in trouble.”

Be that as it may. After WWII, Soros attended the London School of Economics, where he fell under the thrall of fellow atheist and Hungarian, Karl Popper, one of his professors. Popper was a mentor to Soros until Popper’s death in 1994. Two of Popper’s most influential teachings concerned “the open society,” and Fallibilism.

Fallibilism is the philosophical doctrine that all claims of knowledge could, in principle, be mistaken. (Then again, I could be wrong about that.)

The “open society” basically refers to a “test and evaluate” approach to social engineering. Regarding “open society” Roy Childs writes, “Since the Second World War, most of the Western democracies have followed Popper’s advice about piecemeal social engineering and democratic social reform, and it has gotten them into a grand mess.”

In 1956 Soros moved to New York City , where he worked on Wall Street, and started amassing his fortune. He specialized in hedge funds and currency speculation.

Soros is absolutely ruthless, amoral, and clever in his business dealings, and quickly made his fortune. By the 1980s he was well on his way to becoming the global powerhouse that he is today.

To the U.S. soldiers getting pounded with thunderous mortar rounds in their combat outpost near Kandahar, it seemed like a legitimate request: allow them to launch retaliatory mortar shells or summon an airstrike against their attackers. The incoming fire was landing perilously close to a guard station, and the soldiers, using a high-powered camera, could clearly see the insurgents shooting.

The response from headquarters – more than 20 miles away – was terse. Permission denied. Battalion-level officers deemed the insurgents too close to a cluster of mud-brick houses, perhaps with civilians inside.

Although the insurgents stopped firing before anybody was wounded, the troops were left seething.

“This is not how you fight a war, at least not in Kandahar,” said a soldier at the outpost who described the incident, which occurred last month, on the condition of anonymity. “We’ve been handcuffed by our chain of command.”

With insurgent attacks increasing across Afghanistan, frustration about rules of engagement is growing among troops, and among some members of Congress. Addressing those concerns will be one of the most complicated initial tasks facing Gen. David H. Petraeus, the new commander of U.S. and NATO forces in the country.

The controversy pits the desire of top military officers to limit civilian casualties, something they regard as an essential part of the overall counterinsurgency campaign, against a widespread feeling among rank-and-file troops that restrictions on air and mortar strikes are placing them at unnecessary risk and allowing Taliban fighters to operate with impunity.

During his confirmation hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee, Petraeus promised to “look very hard” at the rules of engagement. He has since asked Lt. Gen. David M. Rodriguez, the top operational commander in Afghanistan, to review the rules. The examination will include discussions with troops around the country, military officials said.

At issue is a tactical directive issued last July by Petraeus’s predecessor, Gen. Stanley A. McChrystal, that limits the use of air and mortar strikes against houses unless personnel are in imminent danger. The directive requires troops to take extensive measures, including a 48-hour “pattern of life” analysis with on-the-ground or aerial surveillance, to ensure that civilians are not in a housing compound before ordering an airstrike.

Senior U.S. military officials in Afghanistan and Washington said Petraeus almost certainly will not rescind the directive but instead will issue revised guidance in the coming days in an attempt to streamline procedures and ensure uniformity in how the rules are implemented.

Patriot’s Heart Network’s founder, Chalice Jackson (aka Sharon Meroni), has returned to the Illinois elections system with the objective of affirming eligibility requirements in the state of Illinois for all candidates running for office. In a unique strategy, Meroni challenged all candidates that will appear on the general ballot in the November 2010 election during the filing period. The thirty-two candidates have been challenged to prove their citizenship and age as required by the Illinois and United States Constitutions.

The first hearing was held on Tuesday, July 6th, 2010. At this hearing, the objectors and candidates met and set out guidelines for the process. The Illinois State Board of Elections has jurisdiction over thirty-one of these challenges and McHenry County Election Board has jurisdiction over one. The initial hearing for McHenry County is scheduled on July 12th at 10am and is based on the objection to Sally Wiggins’ petition for the Twenty-second Circuit Judgeship.

Mr. Christopher Pederson and Mr. Andy Martin, two candidates challenged by Ms. Meroni, did not file an appearance at the July 6th, Illinois State Board of Elections hearing. By default, this generally voids their right to appeal the objection. Mr. Pederson filed for six State and Federal offices and Mr. Martin filed for U.S. Senator. This leaves twenty-five active objections between the two election boards.

The Illinois State Board of Elections Hearing Officer set the following schedule for procedure: Candidates and Objectors must file an appearance by July 6th, candidates must respond to the objection by July 9th (these objections are filed electronically), Ms. Meroni must respond to the candidates by July 14th, and candidates have until July 19th to make their final responses. The hearing will be scheduled following this process. During the July 6th meeting, Meroni received verification that the hearing officer would not consider petition signatures based on her objection. Most of these candidates have been challenged by multiple parties who have challenges based on petition signatures. Ms. Meroni’s challenge does not include examination of petition signatures.

The candidates and/or their attorneys filed appearances at the hearing. The Libertarian Party is represented by Mr. Andrew Spiegel and the Constitution Party is represented by Mr. Doug E. IBendal. Scott Cohen and Baxter Swilley (Governor and Lt. Governor Candidates) are represented by Mr. James P. Nally. Mr. Nally filed birth certificates for Mr. Cohen and Mr. Swilley as part of his response on July 6th. The Constitution Party also filed a response for all of their candidates, but according to Mr. IBendal his response will not include any verification of age or citizenship for the Constitution Party candidates. The other candidates have until July 9th to complete their responses. Patriot’s Heart Network will post these responses in the evening on Friday, July 9th, 2010.

Ms Meroni is asking all candidates on her ballot to voluntarily file a raised seal birth certificate or U.S. naturalization papers with the Board of Elections and post a link to the documents on their campaign websites. Because of filing dates, she was not able to challenge the major party candidates that appeared on the ballot in the February 2010 election. She filed a Temporary Restraining Order in Mchenry County Court in March 2010 asking the Illinois State Board of Election to verify eligibility of the candidates who won their party’s nomination in that election. The motion was denied. Consequently, Meroni has sent a letter to these candidates, asking them to voluntarily post the same information she is asking of the current candidates vying for a position on her ballot.

Ms Meroni requests other patriots across the country to contact candidates on their ballots and ask them to post proof of citizenship on their websites under the banner of Proud To Be An American. More information can be found at http://patriotsheart.us, more specifically on the Townsquare Forum.

Besides the obvious importance of having a Constitutional ballot, this challenge is important because it is before the same State Board of Elections that Mr. Obama was certified for ballot placement for State Senator, U.S. Senator, and President. The State posts no evidence of compliance with Constitutional requirements, and there is no way for citizens to check the Constitutional veracity of any candidate on the ballot except through this challenge process.

People were mesmerized with him and considered him the Messiah. Obama felt he had a mandate to fundamentally transform the United States of America. He has worked at warp speed over the past 18 months to transform America into a Marxist-socialist state, which is his idea of Utopia.

During the 60 years between 1948 and 2008, America had experienced creeping socialism. However, ever since President Obama took over in January 2009, we have experienced sprinting socialism, not creeping socialism. We have seen government takeover of banks, insurance companies, the automobile industry, and all college loan funding. We have seen the government takeover of one-sixth of the economy by the socialistic Obamacare Act. These takeovers, bailouts, stimulus funding, cap and tax, and attack on the Constitution just keep on happening. Obama gets away with all of the destruction he’s causing to our country because of the following:

•30% of the voters are Kool-Aid drinkers and lemmings. They just blindly follow Pied Piper (Obama) because they will receive handouts and entitlements for their vote.

•He is well-funded by foreign interests including George Soros (the puppeteer).

•He has the Chicago Mafia helping him to pull all of the shenanigans he has been pulling ever since he was a State Senator in Illinois.

•He has the full support of many communist and other such subversive organizations in the United States.

•Too many people have their heads firmly buried in the sand (like an ostrich), and they don’t really know what is really going on. Many don’t even care . •His administration is riddled with left-wing liberals, extremists, radicals, statists, progressives, socialists, Marxists, Leninists, Maoists, communists, and other such subversives.

•The lame-stream media (ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NY Times, LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, etc.) comprise Obama’s lapdog.

•Our schools, colleges, universities, and other institutions of higher learning are riddled with liberals, leftists, and progressives who dumb-down and brainwash our youth.

•Court benches are filled with liberal judges who legislate from the bench.

•Both houses of Congress are filled with nothing but liars, cheaters, crooks, drunks, sex fiends, perverts, power-hungry, and money-grubbing idiots who look out only for themselves and not for the people and the nation.

•He has the Hollywood Elite/Mafia supporting him in all of his illegal, immoral, and unethical actions.

Now, the liberals/progressives are infiltrating our churches, military, police departments, fire departments, hospitals, banks, and every other organization that keeps our nation safe, rational, and sacred. There is no balance of power among the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government because the liberals/progressives have a majority of each of those branches of government. We are living in very precarious times.

We already are living under communism (with a small “c”). We’ve got to stop it before it grows into communism with a capital “C.”Please continue to work hard to stop sprinting socialism, which will ultimately end in Communism. If we who understand the problem and who care don’t move to stop Obama, then all will be lost after the November 2, 2010, elections.

Well, I wonder! Apparently ‘global warming’ or ‘climate change’ folks are looking the other way. “Surprise, surprise, surprise”, says ‘Gomer Pyle.” It was all a political charade and we know they know, that we know it! Otherwise, they would be demanding the ouster of this administration, especially if it was a Republican, let alone the leftmost President this country has ever seen. So why no crazy talk anymore, why no huge demonstrations, why no comment from the AlGore?

If you have not decided already, let me take a moment and say: “WAKE THE HELL UP!” It was never about the environment, it was always about power. So we now have this little thingy going on in the south. No big deal! Its getting fixed by the Obama Administration…or is it? Oh for the love of Mike, WAKE THE HELL UP!

Please read on, and do some homework folks. We have been reporting on this here on the internet, in the print media, and personally, on the air waves. Where is PETA? What about the sea kittens?

The Obama administration has intensified its cover-up of the BP oil disaster. On July 1 it issued an order barring the public and the news media from coming within 65 feet of clean-up operations without permission from the Coast Guard. The transparent aim of the order, which purports to protect the safety of clean-up workers, is to prevent the population from viewing the devastation wrought by the BP oil blowout. The gag order states that that anyone not authorized by the Coast Guard “must not come within 20 meters [65 feet] of booming operations, boom, or oil spill response operations under penalty of law.” The wording – “oil spill response operations” -could be construed as covering the entire affected region, which stretches from the Mississippi Delta to the Florida Panhandle.

Journalists who “willfully” defy the White House order could be prosecuted as Class D felons and face up to five years in prison and a $40,000 fine. Exceptions to the ban will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Coast Guard captain of the Port of New Orleans.

In defending the order, Coast Guard Commander Thad Allen stated that the measure aims to protect clean-up workers, but he failed to cite a single incident of safety being compromised by “unauthorized personnel.”

The real concern the White House has is that clean-up workers might reveal something about the dangerous conditions under which they work and the real scale of the environmental devastation – defying a gag order imposed by BP. An unknown number of these workers – likely hundreds, perhaps thousands – have become sick from exposure to oil and toxic dispersants and may well face a lifetime of chronic ailments.

Afghanistan is the land of the displaced, maimed, tortured, and murdered. Centuries of war has been borne upon them. World super powers such as Genghis Khan, Alexander the Great, The British Empire, and the USSR have all failed to control Afghanistan and its warrior people. Now it looks like the United Sates and its NATO allies may as well.

It is important to note, this time around, they believe the USA will definitely leave in 2011. This perception, right or wrong is more powerful then truth. They have led existential lives on a war footing for seemingly forever. Western policies, diplomacy, and words mean very little to them. Hundreds of years of war have taught them well, and they now have for the first time, the date they can plan upon. They have a window of choice never before presented to them. They are therefore prepared to leave, to escape, once, and for all time.

These warrior people have been capable of dealing with war, and succeeding. However today, it has also become apparent that they are no longer willing or able to socially or psychologically deal with the aftermath of another war anymore, especially the aftermath.

While war causes death and destruction, nothing compares to the sheer brutality visited upon Afghanistan when invaders departed the land, and others filled the void of power and control.

During the USSR/Afghan War, it is estimated that between 100,000 and one million Afghans died during the ten year duration of that war. After the war ended, and the USSR retreated, the Taliban assumed control of the country from 1996-2001. Interestingly enough, or better said, horrifyingly so, during this regime’s reign, well over 600,000 Afghan lives were lost. They suffered untold brutality, destruction, torture, and murder during the Taliban’s genocidal rampage against those who did not subscribe to the Taliban’s barbaric ideology.

Today, trusted, and verifiable sources who will remain unnamed deep inside Afghanistan have revealed that the Afghan people are preparing to flee the country. They claim they are planning to “escape.” They are weary of the aftermath, and now they believe, and rightly so, that it will be even worse this time if the Taliban resumes authority over the land of the lost. They believe it as if it were fact already in place.

Things are different this time on another front. Those speaking of escaping Afghanistan are not mentioning the old refugee status they sought in Pakistan like so many during the USSR/Afghan war had once done. Rather, today, they are speaking of truly “escaping” the country, and the horrors. In fact they are so sure; they have already established international systems with well-planned logistics systems needed to start their new lives outside of Asia.

The cost of ‘escape’ from Afghanistan ranges between $10k and $22k. Five thousand of that money goes solely to transportation costs. The remaining costs are earmarked for bribes, food, shelter, etc. They must also have enough funds to establish communications with relatives and associates internationally. They must purchase cell phones with international calling cards and internet services for the use of Skype and other secure methods to communicate in a safe manner.

The majority who desire to escape Afghanistan are the many other tribal peoples such as the Hazaras, Tajiks, and Uzbeks because they know when President Obama mentioned the year 2011, the Pashtun dominant Taliban will once again seize control over the country. Minorities know they will be targeted, along with anyone that cooperated with the allies, and the Karzai regime.

FS: Concerning your latest book, “The Manchurian President: Barack Obama’s Ties to Communists, Socialists and other Anti-American Extremists”, what served as the inspiration for you and Brenda J Elliott to collaborate on such a monumental investigative task?

AK: I was inspired to undertake this task because so few reporters were conducting any real investigation into Barack Obama’s background. I reported in February of 2008 that Obama was tied to Weather Underground criminal/terrorist Bill Ayers. When I did a Google search to see if any other reporters or media outlets had uncovered this information, I was stunned to find that they had not. After all, it is the responsibility of the media to engage in a vetting process of sorts when it pertains to presidential candidates.

Based on my research, it was clear to me that Obama had a long relationship with Ayers and Ayers even gave Obama his first job at the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. They also served together, in the 1990s on the board of the Woods Fund; a non-profit organization that funneled money to leftist causes including the Midwest Academy that practiced Alinsky-like tactics of working within the capitalist system in order to overthrow it. What really served as the impetus for me to write this book was the lack of any real independent investigative journalism on the part of the mainstream media, as it pertained to Obama’s past.

FS: As you previously mentioned to Sean Hannity on FOX News, President Obama was not forthright in his book concerning his first boss who he claimed was Marty Kaufman. Since no such person exists, and the person to whom he referred was Gerald “Jerry” Kellman, what connections does Kellman currently have with this administration?

AK: While Jerry Kellman may not have ties to the administration, it is clear that Obama apparently deliberately disguised the fact in his autobiography that he was given a job at the Alliance for Better Chicago Schools or ABC’s by someone he claimed was Marty Kaufman, who in fact does not exist. Rather, he was referring to Jerry Kellman, who is an avowed Marxist and a stalwart acolyte of Saul Alinksy, the radical community organizer. Obama also disguises other names in his so-called autobiography, “Dreams From My Father”, and neglects to mention that his childhood mentor was another Communist agitator named Frank Marshall Davis. Very little information was known about Obama other than what he had penned in his book. All of this information should be considered a major political scandal and the fact that he changed the names in his book should be challenged.

In just six months, the largest tax hikes in the history of America will take effect. They will hit families and small businesses in three great waves on January 1, 2011:

First Wave: Expiration of 2001 and 2003 Tax Relief

In 2001 and 2003, the GOP Congress enacted several tax cuts for investors, small business owners, and families. These will all expire on January 1, 2011:

Personal income tax rates will rise. The top income tax rate will rise from 35 to 39.6 percent (this is also the rate at which two-thirds of small business profits are taxed). The lowest rate will rise from 10 to 15 percent. All the rates in between will also rise. Itemized deductions and personal exemptions will again phase out, which has the same mathematical effect as higher marginal tax rates. The full list of marginal rate hikes is below:

- The 10% bracket rises to an expanded 15%

- The 25% bracket rises to 28%

- The 28% bracket rises to 31%

- The 33% bracket rises to 36%

- The 35% bracket rises to 39.6%

Higher taxes on marriage and family. The “marriage penalty” (narrower tax brackets for married couples) will return from the first dollar of income. The child tax credit will be cut in half from $1000 to $500 per child. The standard deduction will no longer be doubled for married couples relative to the single level. The dependent care and adoption tax credits will be cut.

The return of the Death Tax. This year, there is no death tax. For those dying on or after January 1 2011, there is a 55 percent top death tax rate on estates over $1 million. A person leaving behind two homes and a retirement account could easily pass along a death tax bill to their loved ones.

Higher tax rates on savers and investors. The capital gains tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 20 percent in 2011. The dividends tax will rise from 15 percent this year to 39.6 percent in 2011. These rates will rise another 3.8 percent in 2013.

Health Care Bill, and then NASA, what’s next? Obama is pushing the Muslim world upon us in so many ways. Recently, Lt.G. Tom McInerney was apprised of a section of the Health Care Bill and was stunned when he looked it up. Low and behold, yes, Muslims are exempt. I looked this up on Google and yep, it exists! It’s a REAL word. Amish are also excluded. I think I could become Amish a whole lot easier than Muslim. Word of the Day: Dhimmitude.

The Obama Health Care bill is the establishment of Dhimmitude and Sharia Muslim diktat in the United States. Muslims are specifically exempted from the government mandate to purchase insurance, and also from the penalty tax for being uninsured. Islam considers insurance to be “gambling”, “risk-taking” and “usury” and is thus banned. Muslims are specifically granted exemption based on this.

Dhimmitude serves two purposes: it enriches the muslim masters AND serves to drive conversions to islam. In this case, the incentive to convert to islam will be taken up by those in the inner-cities as well as the godless Generation X, Y and Z types who have no moral anchor. If you don’t believe in Christ to begin with, it is no problem whatsoever to sell Him for 30 pieces of silver.. “Sure, I’ll be a muslim if it means free health insurance and no taxes. Where do I sign, bro?”

In a far-reaching restatement of goals for the nation’s space agency, NASA administrator Charles Bolden says President Obama has ordered him to pursue three new objectives: to “re-inspire children” to study science and math, to “expand our international relationships,” and to “reach out to the Muslim world.” Of those three goals, Bolden said in a recent interview with al-Jazeera, the mission to reach out to Muslims is “perhaps foremost,” because it will help Islamic nations “feel good” about their scientific accomplishments.

In the same interview, Bolden also said the United States, which first sent men to the moon in 1969, is no longer capable of reaching beyond low earth orbit without help from other nations.

The co-pilot is Bruce Woodmansee, a Kitchen Cabinet member of SUA and a close personal friend of the General. The car is a 1966 Ford Mustang.

In a “Red Team” report issued on May 7 and entitled “Managing Hizballah and Hamas,” senior CENTCOM intelligence officers question the current U.S. policy of isolating and marginalizing the two movements. Instead, the Red Team recommends a mix of strategies that would integrate the two organizations into their respective political mainstreams. While a Red Team exercise is deliberately designed to provide senior commanders with briefings and assumptions that challenge accepted strategies, the report is at once provocative, controversial – and at odds with current U.S. policy. ...then it is a matter of deep concern for those who worry about the future of the Middle East. While the Obama administration has sought to distance itself from Israel, it has nevertheless resisted the temptation to repudiate the basic principles of American policy, which has always insisted that such groups must repudiate terrorism, recognize the State of Israel, and adhere to existing peace agreements before they can seek U.S. recognition, let alone the sort of Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval that the CENTCOM Red Team believes should be given to them.

Moreover, the memo’s repudiation of efforts to aid Palestinian moderates ought to give Israelis pause. Both Israel and the United States have been active in supporting the efforts of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Salam Fayyad’s attempts to create an infrastructure that could resist Hamas and become a credible partner for peace. But calling for Hamas to be integrated into the forces that Dayton is training is tantamount to saying that the two-state solution is dead and that Israel is, more or less, on its own as it faces the challenge of Palestinian terror.

US ‘experts’ say bring Hamas, Hizballah into national armies

An intelligence report published by US Central Command (CENTCOM) and cited by the journal Foreign Policy last week suggested that Hamas and Hizballah should be officially integrated into the armies of the Palestinian Authority and Lebanon, respectively.

The CENTCOM study referred to both terror groups as “pragmatic and opportunistic,” and insisted that the policy of excluding them from dealings with the PA and Lebanon was only driving Hamas and Hizballah toward more radical behavior.

“Failing to recognize their separate grievances and objectives will result in continued failure in moderating their behavior,” according to CENTCOM.

The authors of the report also largely faulted Israel for the more violent outbursts of Hamas and Hizballah in recent years. They claimed that it was Israeli policy toward Gaza that resulted in the massive Hamas rocket barrages that sparked Operation Cast Lead, and that Israel’s initiating the Second Lebanon War in response to a deadly Hizballah cross-border raid in which three Israeli soldiers were abducted was an overreaction that ultimately drove the group into the arms of Iran.

What the report left out was that there was no embargo against Gaza until Hamas seized control there and escalated rocket attacks against Israel. It also failed to note that both Hamas and Hizballah have publicly dedicated themselves to the full destruction of the Jewish state. Israelis insist that is an objective they simply cannot recognize, as the CENTCOM officers suggested.

In the video below, Charles Bolden, head of NASA, tells Al Jazeera that the “foremost” task President Obama has given him is “to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with predominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science, math, and engineering.” Thus, NASA’s primary mission is no longer to enhance American science and engineering or to explore space, but to boost the self-esteem of “predominantly Muslim nations.”

Exploring space didn’t even make the top three things Obama wants Bolden to accomplish. The other two are “re-inspire children to want to get into science and math” and “expand our international relationships,”

This is more evidence, if any were needed, of Obama’s lack of interest in American achievement or, indeed, American greatness. He seems to believe we’ve achieved enough (or perhaps too much) and that the trick now is to make nations that have achieved little for centuries feel like we couldn’t have done it without them (in the video, Bolden goes on to talk about how much NASA owes the Russians and the Japanese).

Behind the bravado of the Muslim world there may well lie an inferiority complex. If so, Obama is a fool if he believes we can help Muslims overcome that complex by having the head of the agency that symbolizes our technical superiority make patronizing statements about ancient Muslim contributions to science.

As the U.S. struggles to manage its efforts to influence opinion about Al Qaeda abroad, Al Qaeda on the Arabian Peninsula has produced its first English-language propaganda magazine.

It’s called “Inspire,” and you can read parts of it below. A U.S. official confirmed that the pages correspond to the version its open-source collectors had obtained.

“Inspire” includes a “message to the people of Yemen” directly transcribed from Ayman Al-Zawahari, Al Qaeda’s second in command, a message from Osama Bin Laden on “how to save the earth,” and the cover includes a quotation from Anwar Al-Awlaki, the American born cleric who is believed to be directly connected to the attempt to destroy an airplane over Detroit by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab on Christmas Day. (The director of the National Counterterrorism Center, Michael Leiter, made that disclosure at a security forum in Aspen, CO, Fox News reported.)

The table of contents teases an interview with the leader of AQAP who promises to “answer various questions pertaining to the jihad in the Arabian Peninsula.” It includes a feature about how to “make a bomb in the kitchen of your mom.”

AQAP’s first effort to post the magazine to jihadist websites failed Wednesday, as many of the pages were contaminated with a virus. (I half seriously believe that U.S. cyber warriors might have had a hand in that little surprise.)

The U.S. is quite worried about Al Qaeda’s new publishing ambitions, which mark a more sophisticated effort to engage the English-language world and to recruit English-speaking Muslims to join the cause.

The copy was obtained from a private researcher. AQAP had advertised for days that the magazine would appear with the interviews specified in the table of contents. It is possible, although not likely, that the magazine is a fabrication, a production of a Western intelligence agency that wants to undermine Al Qaeda by eroding confidence in its production and distribution networks. The U.S. is engaged in direct net-based warfare with jihadis; this sort of operation would not be too difficult to pull off.

What is important, I think, for the rest of the world to understand is how, in the past several years in particular, the regime has become increasingly a military dictatorship, and that this is an oppressive, in fact fascist, regime that controls Iran today.

To the point news

Last week, we learned that Afghanistan is The Doormat of Empires. Yet the ignorant myth of the mighty invincible Afghan keeps getting repeated – even by conservative writers who really ought to know better.

Washington Times columnist Jeff Kuhner is an example, who has proclaimed (6/24) that Petraeus is “doomed to fail,” that “the jihadist iceberg is about to sink the American juggernaut,” because:

Afghanistan is not Iraq. It is the graveyard of empires – a nation whose rugged terrain and collection of disparate warlords and tribes is ideally suited for guerrilla warfare. The vaunted Soviet Red Army was crushed in the 1980s. Imperial Britain was defeated – not once, but twice – during the 19th century. The reason: They got dragged into protracted wars of attrition. Eventually, the fierce, primitive mountains, caves and fighters of Afghanistan wore down much superior forces, slowly bleeding them to death.

This is ridiculously not true. Kuhner has obviously neither been to Afghanistan nor studied its actual history but is simply repeating memorized slogans. Thus he asks, “Who lost Afghanistan?” as if this is preordained. Let’s ask a different question instead: “Why should there be an Afghanistan at all?”

Afghanistan is a problem, not a real country. It is a pain in the world’s ass. The solution to the problem is not a futile effort of “nation-building” – that effort is doomed to fail – it is nation-building’s opposite: get rid of the problem by getting rid of the country. It’s a salvage operation – carve the wreck up and parcel it out to its neighbors.

Which means we first have to look at the neighbors. The problem of Afghanistan cannot be solved in isolation but within its geopolitical context. Those neighbors are: Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. You can’t really count China’s tiny roadless border at the tip of the Wakhan Corridor.

Afghanistan has a 19th century raison d’état – it was created quite specifically and for no other reason than to be a buffer state between the British Empire in India and the Russian Empire in Central Asia.

That rationale shifted into a 20th century context of the Cold War between America and the Soviet Union – but with the breakup of the Soviet Union, the rationale has in the 21st century been rendered totally obsolete.

The world is a better place, clearly and objectively, because the Soviet Union no longer exists. The world will be a better place if Afghanistan no longer exists. Just as what ended the Cold War was the disintegration of the “Union” of Soviet Socialist Republics, so the War in Afghanistan will end with Afghanistan’s disintegration.

There will be new problems afterwards, of course – just as the end of the Soviet Union was not the end of history. But let’s get rid of this problem now, this war now, this threat from Moslem crazies now. How to do so begins with the Tajiks.

When failed Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad pled guilty last week, his courtroom tirade provided yet another reminder that the foe we face has just as much hostility for President Obama’s America as it did President Bush’s.

Notwithstanding Mr. Obama’s apologies for supposed American transgressions against the Muslim world and bold promises of end dates for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, our Jihadist enemies are as determined as ever. Consider that most of Shahzad’s planning, including his terror training in Pakistan, occurred after Mr. Obama’s election.

While Mr. Obama’s goal of reducing international Muslim anger toward America is indeed noble, his approach has not only been ineffective, but may actually be harmful. By raising expectations for a radically “different” America, Mr. Obama has, ironically, set us up for an even greater level of Muslim rage.

Far from being some ACLU-loving peacenik, Mr. Obama has largely maintained his predecessor’s terrorism-related policies. Cosmetic changes, such as dropping the name of the war we didn’t choose, have been overshadowed in the eyes of the Muslim world by Mr. Obama’s decisions to “surge” troop levels in Afghanistan and dramatically increase the drone strikes in Pakistan.

Shahzad himself pointed squarely at Mr. Obama’s policies. “Until the hour the U.S. pulls its forces from Iraq and Afghanistan and stops the drone strikes in Somalia and Yemen and in Pakistan,” he explained in court, “we will be attacking U.S., and I plead guilty to that.”

His comments echo the stated motivations of young Jihadists everywhere. Young men who enlist as operatives or act as lone wolves almost uniformly do so in the name of defending Islam and their fellow Muslims.

Before his shooting rampage at Fort Hood that killed 13 and wounded dozens more, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan had laid out a rationale of Islamic self-defense for his own actions in an Internet posting months earlier. Defending the actions of suicide bombers, he explained that they “help save Muslims by killing enemy soldiers.”

Another American Muslim in uniform who turned on his fellow soldiers, Army sergeant Asan Akbar, reportedly offered similar justification for his actions. After hurling several grenades into military tents in Kuwait in 2003 that killed two and wounded 14, Akbar exclaimed, “You guys are coming into our countries and you’re going to rape our women and kill our children.”

Taking Jihadists’ justifications at face value, some have suggested that the key to minimizing the terrorist threat is simply to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Writing for the New York Times’ website, Robert Wright suggested that maybe “the holy war could end if America would stop using military force.”

Myths and Facts

The high-minded centerpiece of Barack Obama’s still-emerging strategic doctrine is “a world free of nuclear weapons.” Although plainly misconceived – this presidential policy expectation is both unattainable and undesirable – Israel can hardly ignore it. On the contrary, planners in Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv will now have to self-consciously fashion and possibly reconcile Israel’s own strategic doctrine with the new American ideas.

Doctrine is a net. In the interpenetrating worlds of war and peace, only those who cast will catch. Without an appropriate and up-to-date doctrine that takes Washington into close account, the IDF will be unable to conform its essential order of battle to the constantly changing and increasingly lethal requirements of the regional Middle-East battlefield. At a minimum, Prime Minister Netanyahu will need to consider that the new START agreement between the U.S. and Russia effectively leaves the wider threat of nuclear terror unrelieved.

What should be done?

First, Israeli strategists must now look directly at their country’s principal existential threats, and identify these perils, promptly and openly, as the dominant object and rationale of their inquiries. Will the “Obama Doctrine,” with its expressly-diminished reliance on nuclear deterrence, be helpful or harmful in coping with these threats?

Second, Israeli strategists must understand:

(a) Israel is a system;

(b) existential threats confronting Israel are interrelated (synergistic); and

(c) effects of these complex threats upon Israel must be examined together.

How will these effects be impacted by the new strategic doctrine in Washington? If necessary, how should Israel compensate for any expanded security vulnerabilities?

It was a sobering dinner party last night (6/16). Hosted by a London billionaire in his exquisite home – a Boccaccio hung on the wall behind me – the wine flowed liberally, but the conversation among the ten of us was stone-cold serious.

There were lighter moments, as when I proposed a toast to “a great hero of Europe – Geert Wilders.” Every one raised their glass in a smile, but the biggest smile was that of a spectacularly gorgeous super-model (you’ve seen her in many a high-fashion ad). She was from Holland.

Then a well-known Hollywood producer raised his glass to toast his hero – Ronald Reagan. “We need him again,” he commented. I guarantee you’ve watched one of his TV shows.

But when a self-made billionaire with an 11-figure private equity fund and a clear grasp of Austrian economics starts to talk about America’s prospects, you listen. So we all listened.

Being in London, he started there. “To call (new Brit PM David) Cameron a disaster is like calling Hurricane Katrina a squall. He’s as much a Conservative as I am a Moslem. I have already started preparing to relocate to Switzerland. If he succeeds in his current push to raise capital gains taxes from 18% to 50% – and it looks like he will – the British economy and the London real estate market will crash. The best play around will be to short the pound.

“In short, Cameron and Osborne (George Osborne, David Cameron’s Oxford classmate and now in Cameron’s cabinet as Chancellor of the Exchequer, equivalent to our Treasury Secretary) lead secret lives. It was bad enough when, two months ago, word got around that U.S. Central Command’s commanding general, David Petraeus, had embraced the meme that Americans were being killed in his theater of operations because Israel had refused to make peace with its Palestinian enemies.

Now comes word that elements within his command – including many of its “senior officers” and “intelligence personnel” – believe the United States should abandon its longstanding policy of “isolating and marginalizing” Hamas and Hezbollah.

According to an article entitled, “Red Team: CENTCOM thinks outside the box on Hamas and Hezbollah” by Mark Perry published today online by Foreign Policy magazine, a Red Team at Central Command is recommending “a mix of strategies that would integrate the two organizations into their respective political mainstreams.” The justification for treating these designated terrorist organizations as though they were part of the solution is to be found in the following, astounding remarks by unidentified CENTCOM officers:

“Putting Hezbollah, Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaida in the same sentence, as if they are all the same, is just stupid,” [one] said. “I don’t know any intelligence officer at CENTCOM who buys that.” Another mid-level SOCOM [Special Operations Command] officer echoed these views: “As the U.S. strategy in the war on terrorism evolves, military planners have come to realize that they are all motivated by different factors, and we need to address this if we are going to effectively prosecute a successful campaign in the Middle East.”

The contention that Hezbollah, Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaida are “motivated by different factors” is pure Brotherhood taqqiya – dissembling for the faith. Its embrace by anyone, let alone by intelligence personnel and senior military officers, constitutes an appalling dereliction of the “professional duty to know” the facts.

The reality is that all these groups absolutely, positively are the same in one respect, at least: They all share a commitment to the theo-political-legal-military program authoritative Islam calls Shariah.

As adherents to Shariah, they are all pursuing the same goal: the global triumph of Shariah under a theocratic Caliphate. Their tactics may differ from time to time, depending on circumstance. But what is really “stupid” is the notion that such differences or even structural differences actually preclude these groups and many others promoting Shariah (notably, the Taliban) from being kindred spirits – and unalterably our enemies.

Further evidence of the defective nature of the CENTCOM Red Team analysis can be found in the emphasis it reportedly places on “a quote from Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, stating that if Lebanon and Iran’s interests ever conflicted, his organization would favor Lebanese interests.” According to Perry, the Red Team concluded that “Hezbollah’s activities increasingly reflect the movement’s needs and aspirations in Lebanon, as opposed to the interests of its Iranian backers.”

The notion that Hezbollah can be weaned from its client relationship with Tehran – either on the basis of appeals to its nationalist ardor or because of Homeland Security Advisor John Brennan’s stated willingness to engage with its so-called “moderate elements” – is unsubstantiated by any material facts. Random quotes, particularly those cited out of context, are of course not at all the same thing as an established pattern of behavior on Hezbollah’s part that demonstrates the proxy’s actual independence from its Iranian masters. No such pattern can be discerned. The same dependency on Iran is operating with Hamas, as well, to say nothing of Syria.

These inconvenient facts notwithstanding, the Red Team is said to have recommended that the United States government open direct negotiations with Hezbollah and that they “be pursued again with the same vigor that peace talks in Northern Ireland were pursued.” The Team goes on to note that, “As the U.S. took the lead with peace talks in Northern Ireland, the British could take the lead with unity talks between the Lebanese Armed Forces and Hezbollah in Lebanon.” Never mind that the difference between Northern Ireland and Lebanon is the IRA was thoroughly defeated by the British in the former. In the case of the latter, Hezbollah would clearly be perceived as the victor.

INN’s New York Correspondent and writer for The Jewish Voice, Fern Sidman, sat down with Mr. Klein to discuss his new book.

FS: Concerning your latest book, “The Manchurian President: Barack Obama’s Ties to Communists, Socialists and other Anti-American Extremists”, what served as the inspiration for you and Brenda J Elliott to collaborate on such a monumental investigative task?

AK: I was inspired to undertake this task because so few reporters were conducting any real investigation into Barack Obama’s background. I reported in February of 2008 that Obama was tied to Weather Underground criminal/terrorist Bill Ayers. When I did a Google search to see if any other reporters or media outlets had uncovered this information, I was stunned to find that they had not. After all, it is the responsibility of the media to engage in a vetting process of sorts when it pertains to presidential candidates. Based on my research, it was clear to me that Obama had a long relationship with Ayers and Ayers even gave Obama his first job at the Chicago Annenberg Challenge. They also served together, in the 1990s on the board of the Woods Fund; a non-profit organization that funneled money to leftist causes including the Midwest Academy that practiced Alinsky-like tactics of working within the capitalist system in order to overthrow it. What really served as the impetus for me to write this book was the lack of any real independent investigative journalism on the part of the mainstream media, as it pertained to Obama’s past.

FS: As you previously mentioned to Sean Hannity on FOX News, President Obama was not forthright in his book concerning his first boss who he claimed was Marty Kaufman. Since no such person exists, and the person to whom he referred was Gerald “Jerry” Kellman, what connections does Kellman currently have with this administration?

AK: While Jerry Kellman may not have ties to the administration, it is clear that Obama apparently deliberately disguised the fact in his autobiography that he was given a job at the Alliance for Better Chicago Schools or ABC’s by someone he claimed was Marty Kaufman, who in fact does not exist. Rather, he was referring to Jerry Kellman, who is an avowed Marxist and a stalwart acolyte of Saul Alinksy, the radical community organizer. Obama also disguises other names in his so-called autobiography, “Dreams From My Father”, and neglects to mention that his childhood mentor was another Communist agitator named Frank Marshall Davis. Very little information was known about Obama other than what he had penned in his book. All of this information should be considered a major political scandal and the fact that he changed the names in his book should be challenged.

That’s the reply he gave to an avowed Minuteman member who questioned why the border was so porous.

Worse, as you watch and listen, think of what this Congressman thinks of the Minutemen Organization, and the incessant feeling from many like him that the border is not an issue. That these people think these ordinary citizens that patrol the border are just murderers, taking pot shots at Mexicans in Mexican territory. There is another video that documents one such incident as proof that that is what all Minutemen do. The video/audio tape of the “proof” is somewhat dubious, and offers little in the way of real proof, but for argument’s sake, we will stipulate that there are chuckleheads who do stupid things while drunk in every organization.

However, if we stipulate that, it does not detract from the real problem. The real problem is that our border is not secure, although Stark says it is, but still acknowledges that hundreds of thousands illegally enter the USA, it is more importantly a snap shot of how our government works. Stark actually says in the clip that he is not the government.

The California congressman is notorious for his confrontational statements. At a town hall meeting last year, he became engaged in an exchange with a constituent over health care and said he wouldn’t “waste urine” on the man. He also called moderate Democrats wary about health care reform “brain dead.” In 2007, he said that U.S. troops were being sent to Iraq “to get their heads blown off for the president’s amusement.”

Stark would have taken over the chairmanship of the House Ways and Means Committee after Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) gave up the position because of ethics issues, but Democrats instead opted to promote the less volatile Rep. Sander Levin (D-Mich.) to the position.

How does a man like this keep getting re-elected, and has had the seat since 1973. He represents California’s 13th House District. This district includes the east side of San Francisco Bay where his local office is in Fremont.

California has critical problems because of illegal immigration, to the point that the state is flat broke because of it. Yet Stark chides a local citizen over the issue. How out of touch are these folks? You be the judge, but remember, he is one of 435 others, many of whom share his values and have that “beltway mentality” we have grown to loathe.

Hizb ut-Tahrir, an Islamic extremist group working for uniting the world under Sharia law, is scheduled to hold its second annual conference on July 11 at the Chicago Marriott Oak Brook. The theme of the event is, “Emerging World Order: How the Khilafah Will Shape the World.” The organization has chosen the home of President Obama, the leader of the free world, to pursue its anti-democratic agenda by taking advantage of the freedoms it seeks to vanquish.

“HT recruiters use religious language to pull the confused Muslim youth to their side in an effort to undermine American democracy. The danger of this conference is that it legitimizes HT as a mainstream organization and allows it to further spread its hate-filled message that divides Muslims and non-Muslims,” Zeyno Baran, a Senior Fellow at the Hudson Institute, told FrontPage.

Hizb ut-Tahrir has accurately been described as “a conveyor belt to terror” by Dr. M. Zuhdi Jasser, the moderate Muslim leader of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy. Although the group condemns terrorism and doesn’t publicly support violence, several of its members have gone on to become major terrorists, including Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

The group may not embrace the tactics of Al-Qaeda but their goals are the same. Hizb ut-Tahrir’s first conference in the U.S. was held last year in Chicago and was titled, “The Fall of Capitalism & the Rise of Islam.” It was attended by between five and six hundred people, and one speaker openly called for throwing out the U.S. Constitution and putting Sharia law in its place.

Although Hizb ut-Tahrir has condemned the 9/11 attacks and has been criticized by Al-Qaeda, this does not make them moderate. They support violent jihad overseas, praising Palestinian suicide bombers as “martyrs,” calling for the destruction of Israel, and supporting those fighting non-Muslim soldiers in Muslim lands. Footage has been found of the group’s leaders supporting militants in Kashmir and Chechnya and leaflets have called on Muslims to fight Coalition forces in Iraq.

Hizb ut-Tahrir does not openly support terrorist attacks in Europe, but its top official in the United Kingdom refused to condemn the 2005 London bombings. He said that he’d only “condemn what happened in London only after there is the promise from Western leaders to condemn what they have done in Falluja and other parts of Iraq and in Afghanistan.” A book by one former leader says that non-Islamic government leaders should “either retract or be killed.” The group’s Facebook page links to a sermon by Anwar al-Awlaki, a high-level Al-Qaeda member believed to have been tied to the Fort Hood shooting, the Christmas Day underwear bomb plot, and actively planning further attacks.

The world has been awakened hearing the news of eleven spies being detained within the last twenty four hours. Affidavits confirm that their tradecraft was horrific. They faced technical difficulties using wireless communication devices, their abilities to conduct “dead drops” were obvious to counterintelligence, and they obviously lacked security measures in conducting switches, passes, or swaps. Plain and simple, their tradecraft was God awful!

If any tradecraft was exceptional, it was the physical appearance of at least one of the spies in question.

Anna Chapman who has the look of a supermodel would make most men do anything. Needless to say, one of the first things taught in any “spy school” is the principle of sexbionage. Simply put, those in the intelligence world know it exists and know that supermodel appearing persons should be a red flag. Chapman was just that.

Uniquely enough, many will assume that this case is a big win for the FBI and other U.S. agencies involved. Needless to say, it is not. Under the official affidavits, there is no form of treason against the United States: no form of espionage, sabotage, etc. which could be used to try these individuals as illegal foreign operatives.

Clearly, the affidavits state that the alleged were sent to the United States to simply infiltrate U.S. political decision maker’s spheres. Whether they were successful or not has little relevance. What truly matters is whether they fulfilled any action which placed U.S. National Security in jeopardy based on any 18 series U.S. Code.

Here is the thing to think about though.

In the late 1980’s, ex-KGB operative Yuri Bezmenov revealed a new twist to the Russian foreign operation against the United States. Within numerous YouTube videos, Bezmenov revealed the power of memes. He also revealed that Russia would take over the United States through the utilization of memes.

A meme is a socially conditioning virus. Memes are psychologically induced phenomenons. They are created by one person’s idea. That person has a handful of powerful friends willing to spread the meme. Those persons reach a handful of persons who they know have hundreds of contacts. It is those contacts that serve as the trafficker for the virus itself.

How easy would it be for an operative like Anna Chapman to obtain a handful of powerful friends just based off looks alone?

The spy next door stated in her Facebook page that she was a fan of the School of Academic and Professional Blogging. What was she blogging about? Well at least a couple of persons within the spy ring were blogging leftist views about the United States. At least for one of the alleged spies, Vicky Paelez, who was a writer for El Diario/La Prensa, she had attempted to socially condition the populace about issues such as our prison system being a form of “slavery” and other propaganda based topics.

In the end, many will believe writing and passing information that belittles America as being harmless.

What is not harmless is the ability of the meme. Memes can be construed as the most deadly virus known to mankind. The Arizona Immigration Bill was not a meme however the media and politicians alike reactions about the bill was a meme. They openly acknowledged that they failed to read the Bill itself however expressed distaste towards the Bill which caused masses of U.S. persons to revolt against it. Rolling Stone’s article about General McChrystal too was not a meme yet the media and politicians alike who reacted prior to reading the article induced many to believe that words directly spoken about our current administration on behalf of General Stanley McChrystal was insubordinate. This led to one of the top generals in the U.S. military to resign from his position.

Why did all this happen? It is all caused by memes. Yes, the same reasons why hair styles are cool, specific clothing brands are worn, or why specific types of cars are purchased. You have been socially conditioned.

Sadly, America as a whole has been infiltrated. It has been infiltrated from the spy next door. That’s correct, that pretty 28 year old hot mamma/poppa who blogs, writes for media outlets, who knows a handful of extremely wealthy prominent individuals can be fulfilling a very dangerous yet successful clandestine operation which is much more harmful then selling nuclear secrets. They can be conditioning the masses to believe that socialism is the future for the United States.
